Question about Macplay Baldur's Gate II: Shadows Of Amn for Mac
Every time I try to go to the Umar Hills in BG2 with TOB Installed it says to insert disc 3 and when I do it pops back out saying it is wrong disc. I would like to be able to play this part of the game? Another problem is that when I download NPC like Amber and what not for the game I try to install them but the Terminal keeps popping up saying command not executionable?
I had the same problem, although I worked out how to fix it. Or at least I had but BG was cleared when I did a serious clean-up of my hard-drive.When I reinstalled it my method didn't work anymore. My method may still work for you however. Here goes:
Step 1: Fully install Shadows of Amn (and TOB?)
Step 2: Once the installer is complete open up 'Data' in the 'CD3' folder from the game directory on your hard-drive.
Step 3: Open up 'Data' on the physical CD3 and copy all the files to the 'Data' folder on your hard-drive. You will likely get a pop-up asking whether you would like to replace the files with the same name, you don't want to any replace files at this point. I repeated this process with the 'CD1', 'CD2' and 'CD4' folders as well. Copying the files from the respective CDs to the respective folders.
Step 4: Boot the game and try to get to Umar. Boo or yay?
Step 5: If it still doesn't let you get to the Umar Hills repeat Step 3, only this time replace the files in your directory with those from the CDs. This is a general and easy method that has worked for me to "crack" other games.
If you're still having trouble then you are now in the situation I find myself in. All I know is I tinkered with the files and folders without the use of any legal or illegal tools to aid me and once upon a time it worked. Since that time I have forgotten how to fix it, but it is possible. Try to take comfort in the fact that it is only a small part of an otherwise fantastic game and will only really effect you if you are: 1 playing as a Ranger or Paladin 2 want Valygar in your party or 3 came to find one of only two bejurils in the whole game... TOB included (sigh)
At any rate, take heart in the fact that the rest of the game should run a little bit faster for you now, at least it does for me and I still can't get to Umar.

I have the same issue, the game asks for disc 3. It can read the disc i used it to start up the game it has nothing to do with the switching discs. I had the BG folder open with the game on small screen. I went to other areas, i use the ToB disc and in the BG folder when i went to other areas, it reads the folder i.e. disc 2. and i didn't have to change discs. but it didn't read the folder disc 3 when i went to umar hills WTF. I reloaded the game too but still fails.
