RangeMax Next Wireless-N Router Gigabit Edition (highest end for this brand). Supposed to have 15X speed and 10X coverage. Box says best for multiplayer gaming.

  • docepek99 Apr 19, 2009

Do you know if X-Box 360 will accept a wireless adapter via USB?

  • docepek99 Apr 19, 2009

There is a RangeMax Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter but it says it is for PCs and comes with a softward installation cd which I think will not work in the X-box?

What are my choices in game console wireless routers? Is this to work with the household wireless network or is it a separate deal?

  • docepek99 Apr 19, 2009

Thank you. It looks like the gaming adapter can link to the household system. Thank you!

Thank you for all of your help. Great job!

The problem is more likely the wireless router that is causing the problem, did it have the highest bit transfer rate you could buy? if not get the best one for your system, not all wireless devices are created equal. As far as USB adapters go all are USB 2.0, that is the fastest USB adapter there is.

Are you sure the problem is between your USB adapter and your router? I've had similar issues with my connection but the problem was with the router itself. I've downloaded a new version of the router firmware and everything has been fine since the upgrade.

Howdy. We are not connected in any way with Netgear, but I hear your frustration. Since you have only one ethernet plug,I wonder if you might try using the new netgear rangemax instead of the other netgear router rathern than with it. They suggest you use these with the rangemax:
"We recommend using this product with the RangeMax Next Wireless-N Adapters (WN511B, WN311B, WN121T"
Good luck with your situation, I'm rooting for you:)

I have the WPN824v3 and it can be balky finding and connecting to a network sometimes. It works best (and gets the best range) using the Netgear RangeMax Wireless USB 2.0 adapter (WPN111). The router and this adapter are (according to Netgear) specifically designed to work with each other, thereby maximizing both the range and the speed of the router.

Netgear WPN824 wireless router

there is no reason why you shouldnt connect at 108 mpbs, so there are only a coulple of things you can try, the first is to change the channel that your router transmits on within the router settings, although this should automatically be done by the router when it comes up against any interference. Secondly try the adapter in a different usb port as USB 2.0 should be used and the port may not be recognised as a high speed port. Double check the router connection transmition speeds is set at 108 mbps; as it would also be able to transmit at a lower speed of 54 mbps so as to be backward compatable with 54 mbps adapters
