My bobbin thread breaks too much. How do I fix it.

Be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Even though it appears to fit the bobbin case, if it is the wrong bobbin, it could cause major headaches.

Try a different bobbin. Try different thread.

Also check that the bobbin thread is wound smoothly and turning the correct direction in the bobbin case. Make sure the thread is threaded through the bobbin tension properly.

AVOID old and inexpensive, bargain bin thread!

There could be a nick or burr somewhere that is catching the bobbin thread and breaking it.

Try loosening the bobbin tension a bit. It could be too tight, especially if the bobbin thread is pulling the upper thread down to the underside of the fabric.

There could also be something wrong with the bobbin case itself that may be resolved by trying a new bobbin case (or borrow one from a friend, etc.)

Bobbin Thread Breaking How to Loosen Bobbin Tension

Bobbin thread breaks off once i start sewing

Hmm, sounds like maybe there is a rough spot on the bobbin case or hook that is snagging the thread. Could also be the bobbin tension is too tight or it is broken. Also, check to make sure the bobbin is loaded the correct direction in the bobbin case and threaded through the bobbin tension properly.

Why does the thread break on my sewing machine?

The top thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle
8. Try a different spool or cone of thread

if the sewing machine has a top loading bobbin, you may have to have the sewing machine checked to see if there is something wrong with the bobbin case or the hook and hook race.
I suggest try a new needle--one for the fabric being sewed
also try another bobbin
rethread the sewing machine top and bobbin, using every thread guide.

Bobbin thread breaks

Make sure your bobbin thread is turning clockwise as it sits in the bobbin case. There is a screw on the outside of the bobbin case you can turn with your thumb slightly to adjust tension. If you dangle the case from the thread and give it a light ****, it should move down slightly when doing so-an indicator of good bobbin tension.
