Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook
The wrong adaptor was used and now the unit is completely dead, will not start up with the proper adaptor or the battery, is there a fuse or a link that may have burned up that I can replace, I have half of it apart should I continue thanks mike
The wrong adapter must have fried the motherboard. They dont have the conventional fuse but there is one there which they bridge in or around the cable adapter area it will look like its lifted or blackened slightly on the soldered side. You can try to bridge it by using a wide like screw driver in the area where the power source goes into the laptop. You shouldnt get a shock its an adapter......trace along the power route...if no success look on the top of the board and see if any thing looks blown like a resistor or capicitor. good luck!!! I know how you feel but its not the end of that laptop you can replace the motherboard at least youll have spare parts. Thats a good work horse that model? tinkering like your doing is learning good on you!
