Dont know where spring goes as it was lying in bottom as belt had snapped

There should be a slot that the spring slides into in the bottom of the dryer
The belt rides against it giving it tension to hold it in this slot.
Sometimes they can be a nuisance,
Someone can hold the drum in position after getting the belt on so you can attach the front
(don't forget the door switch wires). Hope this helps.

How do i pull the bottom panel off?

instruction
  • Unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet to prevent accidental shock which could result in death.
  • Locate the two screws on the bottom base of the front of the dryer by tilting the dryer unit slightly up and unscrew the screws on both the right and left side of the dryer, and put the screws to the side. Some units will have spring clips on each the right and left side. Insert a putty knife and press back against the spring clip releasing it from its hole.
  • Pull the bottom panel off and set it to the side.

I have a samsung dryer model DV209AEW/XAA. I "hand rolled" (dryer was off) the drum to get at a particular pair of pants from the dryer and I heard a loud bang. When I tried the dryer with...

This photo is from a Samsung DV409AEW, but I assume they are quite likely the same. I also turned the drum (clockwise, which is the wrong way) and the same thing happened. The thud in my case was the spring that holds the tension pulley arm in place falling to the bottom of the dryer. If your situation is the same, spinning the drum caused the belt to come off of the idler pulley and the tension spring fell off. It seems to happen frequently based on web searches.
Again, assuming the DV409Axx is the same, you can get at it from behind. There should be 3 screws (2 on the top and 1 on the bottom) of the plate that holds the vent pipe output assembly. That assembly can then be removed. There will be a vent pipe extension that comes out with the assembly.
Once inside, see if the spring is off, and if so re-attach it per the photo below. It is counter-intuitive that the spring pulls the arm down, rather than to the left. Hopefully this will be your issue.
Putting the pipe extension and outlet assembly back in can take a bit of fiddling... but if you lay on the floor, you can actually shine a flashlight in the crack to see what you're doing.
    Hope this helps!

Where does spring from pully go

The spring will attach to the frame of the dryer.
Hook your spring to the pulley and then try to attach it to the frame of the machine moving it to different locations on the frame, just remember it will have to stretch a little to attach so keep that in mind as you mentally try to hook it to the frame.
Look very carefully at the bottom of the dryer frame, it will show a very slight wear mark, and that will show at which point to attach the other end of the spring.

Dryer does not heat, but does tumble clothes and blows air., what is wrong?

Check the electric heating element. This is a long coil, looks like a long spring. That spring (coil) could be broken. If it is broken, you can just take it and twist the two halves together and put it back in. OR buy a new coil spring.. This is in the bottom of the dryer.

Simpson Maxidry Tumble dryer (Cloths dryer) How

Hi there, There is a switch at the bottom of the dryer. It has a groove for the spring to fit around. Then the spring goes through the metal tag with the holes in the pulley. The pulleys 2 prongs then fits into the slot near the motor. The belt goes through the pulley and around the motor wheel. When fitting the drum, tape the belt at three points on the drum with the machine door facing down making installation easier. Once installed remove the tape. The dryer now works like a dream.
