Dell Dimension 8400 Won't Boot Up

My computer won't boot up. I have a amber light on A and all the rest are green on the back of the computer. According to Dell support page this means the usb port is bad, but none of them will work. Any ideas?

The computer isn't new. When I turn it on it won't go past the first dell logo screen. I can't use my keyboard so I don't know how I can turn off the usb ports in the bios. Any suggestions?

Sometimes the USB will work and sometimes they won't. I got an error 2F00:0119. System memory failure read FFFFFF99h expect FFFFFFFFh at address 1C018040h. Suspected memory component located on systemboard at label Channek B Dimm 0. Any ideas?

I spoke with Dell and they think it is the Ram. I have ordered the parts and hopefully this will take care of the problem. Thanks to all!

if you come to the first dell logo screen, your already past the BIOS enter screen.........As soon as you power up keep pressing the F2 key about every 2 seconds and that should get you there

Sounds to me like you might have a Ram issue. What does it do when you try to turn it on?

When i turn on my Dell Inspiron 2400 Desktop Computer why won`t it start.

Is the computer plugged in to a known good power source with a known good power cord? Also, make sure the power is fully seated on both ends. When you press the power button are you getting any indicator lights? The power button itself has an LED that will be either solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off. Do you hear any beeps?

Dell dimension 8400 blinking amber light ethernet port

An Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Since you replaced the power supply, my guess is that the motherboard has a problem.
Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

DELL 8400 MAKES A LOUD FAN NOISE AND WONT BOOT

There are 2 basic fans in Dell tower one for the power supply and the other for the Processor. If your computer is not booting then the Processor fan is most likely to be the culprit. What could be happening is that the Processor fan is no longer turning fast enough to cool the processor, so normal the processor when it over heats there is either protection to switch off the computer automatically or the computer won't boot. The best thing is to change the fan and make sure it is working properly but checking on the cables that they won't entangle on top of the fan to impede it's movement. You can easily damage your processor if the fan is not working properly.

Flashing amber, most likely the power supply
Solid Amber, motherboard or item plugged into the motherboard (Expansion card, external connection etc.)

Can't boot up Dell 5100 Dimension, amber light flashes

When you mean the amber light, is that the blinking hard drive access light or the power light? Different cases have different colors on it. Mine has blue and green lights.

If you see the boot screen (bios) and then after it goes to boot, does it blink and hang?

This could be a simple operating system issue, hard drive or hardware/motherboard issue. If you could provide more information, that would help.

If the power light is steady amber, a device might be malfunctioning or incorrectly installed.

Disconect fan , see if it starts.
