    mine is a brand new dell notebook inspiron - when typing along the letters come on the screen in fits and starts. no virus/malware, dell says to do recovery. this thing is 32 weeks old! lots of people online seem to have the same problem and no one answers their requests or blames software. when i used a usb wireless keyboard to test response, i have the same problem. i have never had this type of problem before on either a notebook or pc. maybe it's dell??? also when I hit the left arrow key sometimes the curser goes right and vice versa. (in a game which works on my pc correctly)

Hi, I had the same problem with my keyborad and all the above did not work for me. After checking keyboard/HDD/Ram failure, IRQ conflicts, Fresh Widows install, I have finally understood where the problem lied.Here is my system:

Dell Latitude 131L;
Windows XP SP3;
Dual core AMD Turion 1.83 Ghz;
1.5 GB RAM;
160 GB HDD;
ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 with CCC and all.

After installing/updating the graphic drivers from ATI, check for “Ati2evxx.exe”. In: Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. the ATI Hotkey Poller may be set to run. Go to Properties and disable it; reboot the system. I did not have any Cyberlink s/w and this service was not showing in msconfig, but it is listed in the services list.

Now my system is back to normal and I’m really glad not to be bothered about it anymore, so irritating.

I suggest ya may have some sort of "Virus" OR maybe some program cannot load properly and is hogging all the CPU? Try a full Virus/malware scan.. also, look for any programs with task manager that are hogging the CPU and either Terminate & remove or repair.

It could either be two things...u have a virus or you can try the following ..gdluk!

Go to start> in start seach type in "keyboard" wen it shows up above , select it. Now you should be in the keyboard properties windows. Under "speed" you can select the rate of how fast or slow you want to type or for your cursor to work.

You will need to purchase a keyboard replacement. Thanks for using FixYa! You can purchase them rather cheap at Amazon.com

Slow Keypad with sticking space bar

Clean your keyboard, try to blow it out with compressed air, and also take a barely wet rag or Q-tip and clean out the gunk. You might be able to pop the keys off and clean in there, make sure the power is off or even unplug it. Even try to unplug the keypad and plug it in, and/or reboot the device.

Keyboard beeps when any key is pressed

The reason these beeps are happening is because there might be a key that is slightly depressed enough to where its registering keystrokes. Move your fingers all over the keyboard and see if you the beeps stop after you do that. If it still is going on then that means your keyboard is bad and will need to be replaced.

You probably have the function scroll button on. See the blue numbers on the letters? press function scroll to take it off and see if that is your problem.

LX 710 Keyboard

First for both the keyboard and mouse you can set the speeds. Secondly, download Ccleaner and run it. Lastly and most important if you have not done this.....take the keyboard and bang it upside down on your desk....you may be surprised as to what comes out.
Late nights cramming and pretzels...these are the obvious fixes. If that still does not do it you can take the keyboard apart and with a soft cloth moistened in alcohol clean the film and keys.
