Question about Computers & Internet

Monitor blinking Let me start at the beginning: I changed out a non working dvd burner with a new burner.Everything started up fine. But for about 3 months I have had the following statement come up when I turn my PC on and it begins to boot: Invalid BOOT.INI file, botting from C:\WINDOWS It works and has not really caused any problems, but I got curious and thought maybe the PC was not booting directly from my Hard Drive so I went to the BIOS settings and where it says "BOOT PRIORITY" I clicked on my hard drive and it asked did I want to save my changes and then exit.I said yes and the PC restarted and immediately the monitor light just started blinking.Nothing will come on the monitor.I was told my another person that I probably changed the CMOS settings so I followed his instructions on how to change the jumper on the CMOS pins in order to reset it.That did not fix the problem. He then said to take the battery out of the motherboard and then try it.Once again, nothing.I've checked the hard drive and the monitor by putting them in another pc and they both work fine.He said when it was saving the changes I made it probably glitched.I have also changed out the video card and that didn't work.So what do I do now?

The monitor doesn't do anything when connected to the pc.I've tried putting my windows xp installation disc in but nothing happens.I can hear my drive working and all the lights come on in my 3 drives, all the fans come on.But the monitor light just blinks like it's not getting a signal from the pc.As stated,I've already changed out the video card so I know it's not that.

Before I made the changes it said INVALID BOOT.INI file. After the changes were made the monitor now justs blinks. That's why I can't reinstall Windows or do anything. The monitor displays nothing.

As far as the rating goes,I wasn t sure how to reply to your solution since there is no reply button for me to click on.I assumed I had to rate your answer and then it would give me the choice, but that didn't work either.I just tried to change the rating but I don't know if it worked or not.

By the way,I also took a hard drive from another pc and tried it on the pc that's causing the problem and the monitor still shows nothing on the screen,so I know it's not my hard drive that's screwed up.

Tried both open slots and it still doesn't work.Is it possible when I clicked yes to save the changes that the pc glitched and the motherboard lost whatever it needs to relay the info to the video card?

Thanks for your help so far

I have been told that it's possible my Northbridge chip was corrupted when the pc was trying to save the changes I made and now the motherboard can't communicate with the AGP slot holding the video card. Can that be fixed or should I just get a new motherboard?

there is a CMOS battery near the front connector and down from the ram slots. can you see? That battery is just like a silver coin. there is a clip on one end. press that away from the battery and remove the battery . wait one of two minuets and place that back. it should remove all the setting change made on your bios and will bring back the Default settings.

mail me if need some instant solution u need... t.mahdee@gmail.com

Replacing is the ultimate solution. as nothing is working till , you may consider buying a new one. as, i prefer not to waste money unnecessarily , I would first test the GPU else where if it is ok or not. As the problem started with gpu, it should have the problem.

It sounds like its definitely something wrong with the system. There must be something about this game that the system is having trouble reading correctly. I don't see there being much of a fix for this unless maybe you brought it in to a local game shop and had let look at it.

Rita...Unplug the computer, take your BIOS battery out (make a note of which side is facing up!), wait 15 minutes, replace the battery (make sure it goes in the same way it came out, do not reverse polarity by accident) and reboot. Does that help? If you had this work done on your computer by a service, contact them with this problem. They should have tested the unit before sending back to you.

This sounds like it is going to be a circuit board issue. When you turn it on the blower should start and the igniter will begin preheating the burner. After 3 minutes the burn lights should come on and you should begin to see some flame with a few seconds. The heater should burn on low for about 10 minutes to allow it to become evenly heated before going to high.
