Ice maker is not producing ice? How can I get the steps to fix?
Whirlpool manufactures a "REPLACEMENT" water line that prevents freezing of the line. I experienced the same problem and it was solved by the replacement line being installed. Fortunatly mine was repaired under warranty. It appears that Whirlpool has a problem but will not issue a recall for this defect! I guess all they care about is making money, not the consumer. They USED to build a quality product, but I guess that is not in their current philosophy.

The problem is one of two places,
the ice maker is the reason or the dual water control valve=> 4389177
Try pouring tap water inside the ice maker if cubes are not there. Let freeze
and if ice drops into the ice bucket then the water control valve on the side
that feeds ice maker is bad. GS5SVAXVA00 Parts
List Look up in the scrollbar and go to page 17 and you will see the water
control valve listed an item 5 and item 15 is the ice maker thermostat. That or
the ice maker module are most times at fault if the water control valve for ice
maker side had 120vac connected to it water would possibly flow. I have found
that sometime if the ice maker is bad just to replace would be the best route,
Tell me how the water test goes and if someone has a multi meter or ohm meter I
will answer how to test those components, Thanks, Sea Breeze

How can I tell if the line is frozen, we still get cold water from the door dispenser?
Our side by side Whirpool Refrigerator's Icemaker has quit twice in four years. The first repair was for the motor and we were chared $360. The computer board that runs the infared beam went out second and it cost $180 to repair. I called Whirlpool after reading the stories of others and was also told that there were no defects with the parts. However, the serviceman laughed when I told him this information. I found a memo from Whirlpool that was sent to service providers advising them of defects. However, they did a quiet recall for parts under warranty. Check this out. I called Whirlpool with this information and they said that they would get back to me on Monday. I guess that Monday will never come. They don't want to pay to fix engineering problems. http://www.servicematters.com/part_retur...
