    Hi there amistydj

Never done such thing as downgrading with firmware not provided by Sony. I did upgrade my firmware to version 4.05. After that everything was still fine. The game is in my UMD Drive.

    Thanx

    Hi there amistydj

I updated to the latest firmware ver 5.50. The same problem still occurs. I want to break this PSP console out of frustration. The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that everything works fine untill I want to use the option screen for a UMD. This tells me that it is not a very big problem!!!!

The D-Pad can be replaced, if you want to repair it yourself, there are PSP repair guides that show you how to take it apart. Just take the frontplate off and replace the conductive rubber pad under the buttons.

I also have the same problem. i have 5.00 firmware. when i go to game the dpad stop working. in main menu it is working. when i look for a solution i found that my triangle button is automatically pressing. so i think that the cause why my dpad is not working is because of the triangle. because it is automaticallly pressing.

Ok. navigate to system settings and scroll down to RESTORE SYSTEM SETTINGS, after that turn off your psp and wait for about 3 minutes and turn it back on.
Write back if this doesn't help.

quit the game, restart the psp and try playing a different UMD on the psp.
check the UMD for physical damage.
clean the UMD, use a dry, lint-free cloth only.
write back if this doesn't help.

I would like you to try that, because I have a psp 2000 and never had problems with it. sony announced a new psp firware update 5.50 yesterday, so I think you should update your psp.

If after updating the same problem happens, you might consider repairing your psp. I will show you how to do that on sony's website.

  • Raymond Owusu-Gyawu May 03, 2009

I have read other articles and solutions about the problem you are having and it seems that there is no problem related to the one you are using experiencing. I think you should repair your psp.

I have a Midland WR-100. The stations don't work, it just rings. Can I fix this?

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you're reading this. Your complaint is that the stations on your radio do not work and it just rings for no apparent reason? The possible cause of this could be your alert setting. Your alert setting may be set on TONE. When this setting is activated, a ringing sound will be played on your radio for 5 minutes or until any button other than the Weather/Snooze button, on your radio is pressed. If this is the cause to your problem, you need to change your alert type setting. Here are the steps to doing this task...
  1. Press the MENU button.
  2. Use the directional up button until "ALT TYPE" is showing on your screen.
  3. Press SELECT
  4. Using the directional up or down buttons, choose DISPLAY or VOICE.
  5. When this is done, press SELECT.
  6. Press the directional up button until "ALT TEST" is shown on the screen.
  7. Test your alert type to find out if you'd prefer this setting.
  8. If this setting is preferred, press SELECT and MENU to exit. If you prefer to choose another setting, press MENU, then the directional down button until "ALT TYPE" is showing on your screen. Repeat steps 3 through 8.
I hope this solves your problem. Reply back if it doesn't. Thank you for choosing FixYa as your one-stop solution spot for your problem. Make sure to read our Tips & How-to page for this product. Have a good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you're reading this solution.

My playstation 2 won't play any disks period. How can I fix this?

To start the auto diagnosis feature

Press the standby/RESET button on the front of your PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system to turn on the system. Make sure the indicator light turns green.

The Main Menu screen will appear.
NOTE: It might take some time for the main menu screen to appear.

Using the directional buttons, highlight [Browser] and press the (X) button.

Highlight [System] and press the (X) button.

Highlight [Diagnosis] and press the (X) button.

Highlight "On" and press the (X) button.

Insert a disc.

Auto diagnosis will start automatically.
The system will make adjustments that might allow previously unplayable discs to be played.

To start the disc after auto diagnosis is complete (for 30000-50000 series):

Press the (O) button twice to return to the browser screen.

Using the directional buttons, highlight [Browser] and press the (X) button.

Press the (X) button to play the disc.

if still not work then apply this
Just take some rubbing alcohol and cotton buds. Gently clean the lens. If this won't help - the laser needs to be replaced. Don't worry, they are cheap now.

My psp joystick is broken. it is stuck down. when i play games, the person is always crouching or going down. and the highlighted section in the menu is always going down. I've looked for solutions on how...

The PSP of my son just so happen to have same problem as yours. Aside from the joystick, the 4 directional button (Up, Down, Left and Right) also controls the directions (hmmm... as the name implies). I was able to correct this by replacing the worn out FLEX PCB at the back of the directional button found just underneath the PSP casing. The trace of the Down Button on the PCB is already shorted to the ground which causes the signal to be always active even it is not pressed.

Any game i play disk arcade or demos xbox freezes

Try the following:
  1. Hold disc by the edges without touching the surface with your fingers. Clean the disc with a soft cloth, lightly wiping from the center outwards. Do not use solvents or chemicals to clean the disc. Examine the disc for any visible signs of damage.
  2. Verify whether the Xbox console clock is set correctly.
    • Turn on the Xbox console without a disc in the drive.
    • Press the directional pad up or down to select Main Menu, and then press A.
    • Press the directional pad up or down to select Settings, and then press A.
    • Press the directional pad up or down to select Clock, and then press A.
You can see the date and time from this screen. Correct the date and time as neccessary.

  3. Try to play the game again. If this does not work, you can try to clear the game cache on the Xbox hard disk. If you have a Xbox Memory Unit available, copy the game cache for this game from the Xbox hard disk to a memory unit:
    1. Insert a memory unit into a controller connected to your Xbox console.
    2. Open the disc tray and remove any disc, if present.
    3. Close the disc tray and re-start your Xbox console.
    4. Select Memory from the main Xbox Dashboard, and then press the A button.
    5. Select Xbox Hard Disk, and then press the A button.
    6. Locate and select the game you want to back up in the list of games.
    7. Select the appropriate save game icon. The Save game icons are located to the right of the game icon. Each save game is identified with a name, date, time, and size.
    8. Press the A button to display the Copy/Delete menu for the save game.

Note: If Copy is not available, you have not chosen a save game file.
    9. Select Save, and then press the A button.
    10. Press the A button again to save to the appropriate memory unit.
    11. As soon as the copy is complete, press the B button to return to the list of save games.
    12. Repeat these steps as needed to back up your other saved games for this game.
If you do not have a memory unit, deleting the game cache removes your progress in the game, high scores, and other information. To find the game cache, follow these steps:
    1. Open the disc tray and remove the any disk, if present.
    2. Close the disc tray and re-start your Xbox console.
    3. Select the Memory option from the Dashboard.
    4. Select the Xbox Hard Disk.
    5. Locate and select the game in the list of games.
  4. Select the large game icon to the left of the list and press the A button.
  5. Press the Abutton again to delete the game cache file.
Note: Delete should be the only available option. If Copy is available, you have chosen a game save file and not the game cache file. Press the B button to return to the list, and then select the leftmost icon.
  6. Select Yes to permanently delete the game cache, and then press the A button.
  7. Confirm that the icon is no longer listed, and then re-start your Xbox console.
  8. Insert the game disc, and then either load your latest saved game from the memory unit, or play the game from the beginning.

Star wars: force unleashed was a bad game... anyways:
Maybe the disk isnt read rite by your psp. maybe the disk is wrong?
Or it could just be that you dont use the directional buttons for gameplay, just the analog stick. XD

Directional Button and L Button Problem and another problem.

I think there might be a problem with your configuration, remove all plugin then try to restore to default setting on setting menu. and/or if your psp installed Custom firmware, the umd speed are set to fast. do this via recovery menu (hold R trigger while turn on psp). you may need to fix L button if it is stuck. you may consoder sending it back to Sony for repair. You can call SONY support at 1-800-345-7669. hope this helps.
