Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Won't connect A virus disabled my wireless network connection and my wireless printer connection. I have restored my network and reinstalled my HP Photosmart 8700 and the HP Wireless printer upgrade but nothing I've tried has restored the connection. I had a green check mark briefley and it printed a line or 2 and then quit I am so frustrated I could scream and I'm out of ideas. It was working great until the virus which I'm sure has been removed. Any ideas would be greatley appreciated. thanks Deb

    HI

I appreciate you taking the time to help me, I have Malwarebyes and have run every scan and nothing seems wrong. Could upgrading to internet explorer 8 or updates for hp DOT 4 USB printer port play a role in this somehow? Thanks again

It could be your antivirus might have something miss. I suspect there is still a remnant or some other files your antivirus have miss. Or some setting that has been disabled/added and still not corrected, some of it are in the registry.

Try Malwarebytes antimalware, it can detect viruses, trojan, spyware, and malware. It is one of the best with regards to this. It is lite to run. Intall, update, then scan.

How to troubleshoot HP Printer not found during network driver setup issue in Windows Operating system?

Download the full feature software from the HP website or on the software disc and setup your printer for wired or wireless network connection.
There might be one of the following errors if the installer does not detect your printer after setting the connection type.
1.Printer not found
2.Devices not found
3.Unable to find the printer
During the Hp printer network setup, there may be some troubleshooting issues,

Step 1: Reset or restart your computer, HP Officejet printer and the router
1.Disconnect the power cord outlet from the router.

5465_install_1a-ur23imwvkexuk45mistkg3hp-5-0.gif 2.Close all the tabs running on your computer and shut down your computer.
3.Then turn off the HP Officejet 4650 printer.
4.After few minutes reconnect the power cord outlet to the printer and wait till the connected status light blinks to normal.
5.Then turn on the printer and computer.
6.Again install the HP driver and software.

Step 2: Check the status between the printer and the network connection.
Before the setup confirm that your printer is ready.
1.Wireless Network: On the printer, open the wireless network connection settings menu and check whether the wireless signal is turned on.
2.Wired Network: Check that cable is connected to the printer Ethernet port.
Note: The green light should be in steady status and the orange link should blink when the cable is connected and make sure that your HP printer is not connected to a guest or host network.

1.Set the band to 2.4GHz if it is dual band router else the printer cannot connect to the network.
2.Check the network name and status of the connection in the notification bar.
3.If it is a different network then reconnect your network to complete the setup.
4.Move the computer and HP Officejet 4650 printer closer to the router if the signal is weak.
5.Slide the Airplane mode to off if it is on.
6.And again try installing the software and driver.

Step 3: Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
1.HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor to resolve the scanning and printing issues.
2.Download the HP print and scan doctor software to resolve all the troubleshooting issues.
3.After the installation on the Welcome screen click start.
4.A new menu box appears on the screen with the printer list. If your printer is not listed then turn on the printer again and connect it.

hpscanprinter-ur23imwvkexuk45mistkg3hp-5-2.png 5.Click the option my product is not listed and then select retry.
6.After that, your printers display and select it.

Step 4: Temporarily disable firewall software.
If the firewall software is installed on the computer that will help you to block the threats that found on your computer.
Use the print and scan doctor to identify and temporarily disable firewall software on your computer.
1.Click network on the print and scan doctor window.
2.A drop down box appears in that select the option troubleshooting firewalls.
3.Click the firewall software to disable it.
4.And install the HP driver and software.
If the HP driver is successfully installed then consult the firewall software support to change the settings as security level, trusted zones. After changing the settings re-enable the firewall software.
If the HP driver is not installed then there is no issue in firewall software and re-enable it.

Step 5: Uninstall and reinstall the HP drivers and software.
1.Disconnect the cable if your HP Officejet 4650 printer is connected to the USB cable.
2.Click programs and features in the search windows.
3.A list of installed programs will be displayed click your printer name and uninstall it.

I just bought this HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet and I completed the installation and I can't get the printer to print via the computer nor the fax to work. HELP!!!!!! Before I take it back!

There are two explanation for your issue. The printer might not be installed properly through your network because of firewall, anti-virus or spyware or the printer might need to be installed first through usb connection then wireless connection. If your printer falls in the first issue then I would suggest to uninstall the printer software first before reinstalling it. Before proceeding with the installation turn off the firewall, anti-virus and spyware. connect the printer to your network first then proceed with the installation process. If this would not resolve the issue then you need to uninstall the software again and reinstall first throught usb connection. After successful installation reinstall the printer to your network. It should work.

Some application like Anti-Virus software or Firewall is blocking the Printer to connect it to the Computer.

1. Try disabling the Anti-Virus software or Firewall in the Computer and check. Or add the Printer as exception in the Anti-Virus software or Firewall.

2. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver and check.

3. Power reset the Printer (turn it OFF, remove the power cable for one minute and then turn it ON) and check.

Unable to print on wireless network or send e-mail

Recheck that the printer is shared by the computer it is connected to and that all PCs are on the same network. If no success try disabling the firewall on the pc that your printer is connected to. (If printing now works readjust the firewall permissions).

On the second open Internet Explorer; Tools; Internet Options; Connections and make sure that there is a selection for... Never dial a connection.
