Trouble with yahoo voice

We have 3 pc's here this trouble has happened on all three.
I can get into a chat room but after 5 minutes I lose sound and when I try to refresh my ears it tells me the Audio Input Cant be Initialized and then I get knocked off yahoo messenger we have updated messenger lately, And someone suggested that our router needs to be updated or its not receiving enough packets for sound. I do have another chat client I use but dont like to and it keeps sound.
Thinking that since yahoo has just updated its servers that maybe the router might need to update here any help would be appreciated
