    Ok tahat

  • robert3984 Apr 19, 2009

Ok thanks that worked for the video portion and i appreciate the help, i still have to run the audio through the tv. I can't get to work through the receiver. The tv is a westinghouse 32 inch hdtv model sk32h240s, the cable box is scientific alanta, the receiver is yamaha htr-6130. Thanks again for your help and swift response.

Ok once again thanks for all your help. Here is the setup

    Cable Box Scientic Atlanta
    HDMI to HDMI on Receiver
Optical Audio To Optical Audio (3) CD on Receiver

PS-3 HDMI to HDMI on Receiver
Optical Audio To Optical Audio (2) on Receiver

Receiver HDMI out to HDMI on Westinghouse TV

The problem is that in I can get either audio or a picture running through the receiver. If I get both than when i change channels it seems to lose the input to the receiver. Should I be using a different setup with different cable (example either composite red and white or yRB) I do have connections for both and if so which is better and how do i do the hook up. Once again thanks both for your expertise and time

  • robert3984 Apr 21, 2009

i am so sorry i obviously hit the wrong button is there any way i can get you back?

  • robert3984 Apr 21, 2009

Ok i will try that will that still allow me to run the sound for all devices through my receiver?

  • robert3984 Apr 21, 2009

Ok so what is the right connection? I will try when I get home and wait for your answer. If possible tell me all connections for all components. Thanks for your help and fast response.

  • robert3984 Apr 22, 2009

Ok thanks again. As for composites which are best YWR or YBG and will I still get the benefit of HD.

  • robert3984 Apr 27, 2009

Ok I have tried or thought i have tried all the solutions. The problem is that I still can not get all the components to work. I have every conceivable cable, I have three HDMI cables. Now when I put the hdmi out from the cable box to the hdmi in on the receiver, then i connect from one of the hdmi outlets on the receiver to the hdmi on the tv. I often lose the signal when i change channels are try to use another feature such as watching movies that i have recorded on the dvr. The cable box has a built in dvr. I still have not been able to connect the ps3 and i am afraid that when i do i won't be able to watch the movies in 1080 or 720. I am getting very frustrated and think that I keep missing something. BTW the site needs to be checked because it keeps telling me that i am reposting when i do reply.

    Thanks Again

then the other option is to get all the other external components with another tv.if you dont have another tv get it checked at the tv repair shop .if all the other components work with other tv at the tv reparing shop that means your tv has some setting problem.but if same problem at the another tv that means some cable is missing or faulty.

    keep updated.

Remove the optical audio connection and use HDMI only, HDMI already carries audio with digital quality that is the same as optical audio.

Always turn off all devices and possibly cut power when plugging and unplugging cable, HDMI connections are very sensitive.

If you use only HDMI cables you will still control the sound from the receiver. The previous connection was wrong , that is not the way it is supposed to be.

    Here is the Yamaha backpanel

    Unplug all devices first.

Connect the HDMI out from HTR-6130 to TV.

The cable box may not have HDMI, if it is like one below has only RCA, component video, coax and DVI. In that case use Component video cable to connect to the Yamaha on the component video input at the left, the one saying dtv-sat. Component video are the red yellow gray.

After connecting the cable box out, connect dvd and PS using HDMI to the HDMI plugs at the top odf receiver called DVDE and PS ot dtv-cbl

If instead the box has hdmi, then the best choice would be connecting the PS to composite, since your Yamaha has only 2 HDMI inputs.

Let me know if you need further help.

Please , do not forget to leave us feedback afterward.

    Many thanks.

Hi,

Please connect HDMI in Receiver's HDMI OUT and hook it in TV's HDMI IN port.
Now connect Cable and PS3 HDMI cables in Receiver only. Turn ON all things and TV will recognize PS3 and Cable Box HDMI via Receiver.

Hit "add a comment" button for further query / info. Please intimate TV and receiver model numbers in reply.
Thanks.

OK, you are watching TV with PS3 and Cable picture via receiver through HDMI. Great!

Now you need to get sound from receiver. Let me know do you have 'Digital Out' ports in receiver, cable box and PS3?
If yes, then hook Digital Optical Cable in PS3, cable box and insert it in correspondence input of receiver. you will get digital sound of PS3 and cable box from Yamaha receiver.

    Thanks.

Starts randemly flipping through tuner channels and won't stop

While it is stable, enter ''menu'' and check ''channels'' menu. Make sure (if you have no antenna) that it is set for ''Cable'' or ''Satellite''.

If problem continues, try unplugging for a _full_ 24 hours, and then do the above.

Ps... If you _do_ have an antenna, set it for ''antenna'' and then select ''scan for channels.'' Do not interrupt process. Allow it to finish on it's own.

Does sk-26h590d have HD connection

It might have a built-in HDTV tuner or it may require installation of an HD converter box. If you see decimal channels such as 3.1, 29.2, etc. you have an HDTV tuner. If you see channel numbers without decimals such as 3, 29, etc. you will need to install a converter box

Cheapest place to buy cables would be from monoprice.com

If you would like I can give you a list of suggested cables to use for the best picture/sound. I'd just need to know what the make and model of any other equipment you are trying to hook up to the TV is. i.e.

Same problem I had... My problem was with any HD input from PS3 (only HD device I have), the PS3 was fine on other televisions so I determined that it must be a problem with the TV in question. I fixed this problem by unplugging the TV, letting it sit for about a minute and then plugging back in.

I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.

Hope that helps!
