You first need to check and see if the computer sees the device.. either in "my computer" or device manager...if not check the bios settings if bios is set correctly then its either the cable or unit itself....If the unit is recognized by the system then goto device manager and upgrade the driver to run dvd's though you need to download software like nero or roxio
