My sony 60 in just had the replacement of the projection unit as it was faulty and the colors weren't proper. now the corners of the screen are black on 2 sides. Is it the same unit that was replaced or is this a bulb problem?

It would be the projection unit however there is a chance that the lens is being blocked and casting shadows in the corners. i can not think of an easy way of checking but if it was like that after the part was installed that would be my first guess before saying that the projection unit has a fault.

momkennedy13,

You have the fatal Sony KDF optical engine issue. Sony has had most if not all these models fail prematurely. The solution is to replace the optical engine. The problem is they are not available as a new unit only a repaired unit so the problem will no doubt reappear in the future. Many people have had success with contacting the Sony customer service representatives and can usually get them to sell you a new unit for a couple hundred dollars. For my money that would be the best way for you to go. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r7851924-sony_projector_yellow_or_blue_dots which explains the problem and offers solutions.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Where is the lamp located to replace lamp on this T.V.? Sony Wega 60" LCD MODEL#KF-60WE610

The lamp is located behind the grapy strip in the front of the tv. Look behind the lowere right and left corners and take out the screws, take of the gray faceplate, and the bulb comes out in a "unit" style. take out the old and plug in he new!

Sony Grand Wega corners are blue

Hello Wealth744:

The problem is that your LCD optics Engine is failing. There are three small screens much like the size of a nono Ipod screen, inside of the optics engine. Each one a different color Red, Green, Blue. The blue lcd screen is faulty. These can be replaced but labor to do this is intensive and most tech will want to just replace the optics engine. So in short the Optics Engine need to be replaced to correct this problem.

you can order the housing and lamp - naturally comes this way from sony - or order just the light(lamp) itself and save $100 - as long as you feel comfortable replacing it! chk these sites:
