Can I use only a black BJ cartridge on a Canon 620 printer?

What I want to know is this: can I use just a black cartridge with
    the 620?

  • tedwylfree Apr 20, 2009

Let me be more clear. I want to know if I can load this printer with
a black cartridge only. I do not want to use color. Some printers
want both black and color; some will let the user get away with
only black, even though one could also load a color cartridge into
    them.

You can, but if you do and the translation of colors to greyscale fails to produce printing in a result that would prove to you to be satisfactory, you then would understand what I was trying to imply.

The BJC 620 was produced in an era when high resolutions from screen images were rather limited, as shown in the exhibit I supplied, the Windows version recommended was 3.xxx, or Pre Windows 95, and as such modern operating systems no longer provide up to date drivers, making the results you would encounter with only a black cartridge rather unpredictable.

Where can I find carteidge holders for BJC-80 Cannon printer

    Hello JBM,

Please press the cartridge button and the cartridge holder moves to the center. Gently press and pull the front cover toward you. Press the green tab on the front left edge of the BJ Cartridge cartridge holder. This releases the BJ cartridge. Lift the entire cartridge out of the printer. If installing a new BJ cartridge, take it out of its protective packaging. Peel off the protective foil, and lift the cartridge out. Lift off the orange cap from the print head. Then remove the orange tape.

    Will not print

Check on Canon.com, for the users manual, When you install cartridges you hold the resume button for the number of beeps to identify which cartridge is installed. You can install one black ink or one each black and color but you have to tell the printer which is installed.

I OWN A CANON BJ-10sx printer. It works fine.

    Please go to www.usa.canon.com

Search for the compatible cartridge for your printer. That particular printer is so old that the cartridge design more than likely changed.

Replacing the cartridge should resolve this problem: Follow these steps to replace the cartridge:

Installing / Replacing the BJ Cartridge Follow this procedure to replace the BJ cartridge:
    1. Make sure the MultiPASS is plugged in.
    2. Open the document tray.
    3. Lift the document guides to open the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

If the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) does not open easily, slide the document guides outward and then open the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).
Or slide the Document Feed Lever to either the automatic or manual setting.
    4. Pressthingtopress.gif. If installing the BJ Cartridge for the first time, skip to step 6.

Caution: Do not try to manually move or stop the cartridge holder since this may damage the unit. Do not touch the components shown or any metal parts since this may adversely affect operation of the unit and/or affect print quality.

The MultiPASS has an automatic protection feature that helps keep it from overheating. If the cartridge holder does not move, unplug the MultiPASS and let it cool for several minutes. Then plug it in again.
Press thingtopress.gifto move the cartridge holder.

    5. Raise the blue cartridge lock lever on the cartridge holder and remove the BJ cartridge.

Caution: Discard the old BJ cartridge immediately according to the local laws and regulations for disposal of consumables. You may want to place it in a plastic bag to keep any residual ink from spilling. Spilled ink can stain any surface; protect yourself and your work area. If removing a BJ cartridge to use one of the optional BJ cartridges, be sure to store the BJ cartridge in the container provided with your MultiPASS. Otherwise the ink will dry and affect print quality.

container.gif 6. Remove the new BJ cartridge from its package, then remove the orange protective cap (1) and tape (2).
    removetapencap.gif
Caution: Discard the cap and tape. Never attempt to reattach them to the BJ cartridge print head. Install the BJ cartridge immediately after removing the cap and tape. Spilled ink can stain any surface; protect yourself and your work area.
    7. With the label facing outward, insert the BJ cartridge into the cartridge holder. Lower the blue cartridge lock lever until it locks into position.
    lockinpos.gif 8. Press thingtopress.gif.
The cartridge holder moves to its home position on the right side of the unit and begins cleaning the BJ cartridge print head. This process takes about 55 seconds.

Caution: Do not try to manually move or stop the cartridge holder since this may damage the unit.
    9. Close the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).
    10. Close the document tray.
Note: If you need to unplug the MultiPASS, wait until the unit is in standby mode (date and receive mode displayed in the LCD). Otherwise the cartridge holder may not be in its home position causing the BJ cartridge to remain uncapped and dry out.

Canon BJ 200 InkJet Printer Problem

    Hello Ruth:

Somewhere on this website should be my comments on your problem but I can't find them, so here's a repeat. Sounds like the print head is clogged. With power on, press the Online and Print Mode buttons simultaneously until the lights to the left of the Online button blink. Normally, this takes a few seconds. This is the recommended cleaning procedure for this printer head. If no success, repeat this a few times. If no success, replace your ink cartridge with a Canon BC-02 black ink cartridge (if not already using this) and use the above cleaning procedure before trying to print. If unsuccessful, try a printer repairman.
