Question about Maytag MAH6700AWW Neptune Front-Load Washer
I have a 98 maytag neptune MAH3000. It has had the replacements done by the recall. Twice now there has been a burning smell(months apart). Opened the back and checked the belt. Shows no sign of getting stuck..looking for a wear spot. Yesterday it happened just after the wash cycle. Works ok today. Already have done 2 loads.
I had the same problem when I was rebuilding the neptune and I realized the belt was too tight so it caused a rubbery burning smell. you should re just the motor so its not so tight

Check to see if the door boot is intact. if there is a hole in it water could be getting to the motor control board and you are in danger of shorting the machine out. the other possibility is the main computer board may be on its last legs and is doing a slow sizzle
