I am trying to restore my computer, but I don't have the cd that I need to restore my system is there another way to restore the system with the cd?

What's the brand and the operating system of your computer? Usually manufacturers has a factory image restore set on the computer if your computer has that there's no need to use a CD to restore your computer. Though there are some issues that image restore is not working for some reason, if that is the case, there's no other option but to use an operating system disc to restore your computer.

If OFFICE MAX won't supply a CD, or give you any other technical support, as part of the "warranty" that they offered when you purchased the computer, you might be able to telephone the manufacturer of the PC, and order a set of "System Restore" CD/DVD disks.

Or, if your computer still is running Windows, there should a utility program that you can run, in order to "burn" your own set of "System Restore" disks.

> it has stopped booting ...

When you first turn it on, do you see any message like "Press <BLAH> to change boot-order" or "Press <BLAH> to run System Recovery" ? If so, then press the <BLAH> key, to see if your computer has a "hidden" area that can be used to "restore" your computer to its "factory" settings.

How can I restore my laptop dell d 830 to its factory settings without a cd

Hi darioindc,

Follow the instruction below to help you restore your laptop to the factory settings.

1) Turn on the computer.

2) As the computer starts, press 'F8' on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

NOTE: You must press 'F8' before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If you press 'F8' after the Windows logo appears on the screen, the Advanced Boot Options menu will not appear on the screen.

3) Press the 'Down Arrow' on the keyboard to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press 'Enter'.

4) Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.

5) Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.

6) Click Dell Factory Image Restore.

7) In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.

8) Click to select the Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition check box.

9) Click Next.

10) When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer. Now your computer is restored to the default factory configuration.

NOTE: You can restore the laptop only if there is a Recovery Partition and/or if you haven't deleted it.

How to format my compaq pressario cq40 604tx laptop with xp

Boot from your XP install CD and select the option to format the C:
drive. If you don't have an install CD, use the "System Restore" CD or
DVD that came with your system. These restore your system to factory
settings. There're still other ways to format your C: drive, but
without either an install CD or restore one, you'll end up with an
unusable system after formatting the C: drive.
If you use the XP install CD, you'll need to be SURE you have all the
drivers for things like your DVD/CD drive, NIC, video, audio, modem, etc.

Need to restore to factory Settings don't have discs

If your system came with a recovery cd and you have lost it, the only things you can do is either , do a system restore back to the last restore point shown. Or purchase a new CD disk.

If yous system did not come with a recovery disk, then it is possible there is a recovery image of windows residing on the D:\ drive partition of your hard drive. If this is the case, when you boot up the computer and it's on the black screen, you should be given an option something like "Press F10 for Setup" . If you press F10 you will have options on how to recover the PC to factory defaults.

I have a vista laptop and need 2 reboot back 2 factory settings how do i do it

To restore your laptop to its previous or factory settings try using the system restore option. You can access the System Restore by navigating to Start--> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore. After opening the System Restore Tool you select this option " Restore computer to an earlier time". Then you can see the calender displaying the present month and some bold dates in it. You can go back to the month of the purchase your computer and then select one of the bold dates and click "Next". Then the system will restore and it re-starts on its own. A message will be displayed after Restoration is completed. Press "OK" . Thats it, your Computer is set in to Factory Settings. If you face any problem please let us know. Thank you for contacting Fixya.

For (Operating Systems=windows98,xp,vista)
unless you have a custom program to do this you can only restore back using (system restore) however that will not restore it to factory settings.. the best way is simply re-installing the Operating system after Formatting your entire Harddisk space (all partitions)
If you don't know how to do it.. then simple follow the instructions after booting the windows CD
PS: to boot windowsxp cd you have to set BIOS settings (F2 or F10 or Del Button at start of computer) to boot CD before HDD..

There is no simple restore factory settings in Laptops

Cannot access full factory restore

Open up your Control Panel (in Start menu), click on 'Performance and Maintenance', then in the left-hand column click on 'system restore'. On the system restore screen choose 'Restore my computer to an earlier time' and follow the directions to go back as far as you want.
I'm curious why you need to do this, though. If it's because of a virus, make sure the virus is gone or your problems wilkl just come right back!
I would certainly consider ordering the manufacturer's recovery CD's any way in case the hard drive ever goes bad. It's cheaper than a anew set of 'Windows' CD's. Good Luck!
