The gas could be leaking from the threads or the hose. Get a spray bottle with soap solution (Windex will work too) , turn on the gas (outside only) and then spray the hose or fittings in the suspect areas. If bubbles appear in an area other than the threads, you will probably need to replace the hose.

The usual source of leaks is where the hose is cripmed onto the fittings with the threads. If the threads only are leaking, the fitting can usually be removed, treated with a pipe thread sealing compound (available at most hardware or home improvement stores) and then re-assembled.

Whichever method is used, check for leaks again after the repair is complete.

Be careful

Punctured surface of freezer no hissing no smell of gas but its not cooling that much anymore should I cover the hole right away?

You have released the refrigerant. A typical refrigerator only has few ounces and the hissing going away means you have none. You will needs a new evaporator coil instaled or have the hole braised shut then the refrigerant recharged. You will need to call a refrigeration teach to fix. Or replace unit. To prevent damage to the compressor and to minimize introduction of air and moisture into refrigeration circuit, turn off immediately. Call a repair man. A word of advice, don't use ice pick to chip away ice. Next time do what I do, get a dolly and take outside after I completely unload contents in big ice chest. I lean unit forward and let warm air defrost unit withholds open on front lawn. When defrosted I return unit to location plug back in and reload product.
Hope this helps!

I have old Ingersoll Rand compressor type 30 model 15T serial # 243496 Blow fuss when restart ?

Probably a faulty non return check valve, when the unit reaches pressure air in the delivery pipe is vented down at the pressure switch. If the check valve is passing back this will cause the unit to try to start against a pressure causing it to pull high amps and trip. If there is a constant hiss coming from the pressure switch when the unit stops it will be the non return valve. There should be a short hiss of air when units stops If there is no hiss at all when the unit stops it could be a faulty pressure switch. If it is a quick fix would be to create a small leak on the delivery pipe to vent the line down.

87 chevy caprice A/C vent not opening

Depends on what is clicking. The engine vac opens blend doors under the dash. It could be one of the vac pots or a blend door is sticking. Normally the hissing noise means you have a leak, but a leak usually does not fix itself.

Hotpoint freezer FZA84 does not freeze ,high temperature light is on. when switched on the temperature comes down to about -12 C . does not come any lower but i hear a irregular hissing sound probably

You need to cut it off. You may be doing a lot of damage there. If this freezer is 8-10 years old, you may want to go ahead and replace it. At least it will not give you any more problems.

Hi everyone I'm having a problem with my 84 Ford Ranger. I recently replaced the carburetor and now have a hissing sound and don't know where it's coming from. Some maybe hooked up wrong so I need a little...

Sounds like your hissing sound is a vacuum leak either where the carbretor is attached to the manifold or one of the little vacuum hoses used for pollution control etc that is attached to the carburettor or manifold. The hoses tend to go hard and / or split where they connect to the metal piping if they are over 10 years old. Check to make sure all the hoses are attached to the correct ports and any unused pipes on the manifold are capped or plugged. Also check the ends of all the hoses including the larger hose that goes from the manifold to the power brake booster, for brittleness or splits and if they are long enough you could trim about 1/2 inch off the end and re-attach, but if the whole hose is hard and brittle the best option is to replace any suspect ones completely. Most auto parts retailers sell the hoses cut to any length you need.
If the hissing is still present you can find the point of leak by using a length of hose with one end held close to your ear add the other end held close to anywhere yiu might suspect the noise is originating.
If the leak is between carby and manifold you may have a split gasket or the face of either part may not be true an not making a leakfree joint. If this is the case remove carby and using a straight edge check each mating face for flatness. If not OK a wide flat file can be used to level out the bumps. Before replacing carby do a trial fit without the gasket to make sure there is good close fit with minimum gaps. You may have to do a bit more filing if any high points cause excessive rocking during the trial fit.

It's possibly the circuit breaker rather than the dryer itself. Usually when it trips, it is overloaded or shorted. Overload can be a result of a loose connection or a bad heating element, when you remove the old breaker, see if it has some noticeable burn/corrosion marks where the wire is screwed down, I think replacing the breaker will fix the problem. Hope this helped Tim
