Question about Toshiba Satellite M100 Notebook
There is a message i my laptop is "system has detected a number of active spyware applications in your computer it will impact your computer's performance, click the icon to download the anti spyware" and after clicking the icon it directly takes to the website "http://www.antivirgear.com/?aff=1012" so please help me out what to do. Thanks!
Hey Singham, The message you are getting (system has detected a number of active spyware applications in your computer it will impact your computer's performance, click the icon to download the anti spyware) isn't a valid alert its basically the "virus" itself tryig to get u to buy a fake anti-virus. Typically Somewhere along the line of downloading / browsing the internet, you may have inadvertently allowed this nuisance to install itself on your machine. You can try to remove the spyware using several Anti-Spyware tools out in the market i.e. AVG Anti-Spyware(my fave), Symantec, McAffee etc or following instruction on this site for that specific trojan http://www.spywareremove.com/removeAntiVirGear.html hope this was helpful regards, babb

Yes you have been attacked. Those **** only want you to buy their product. NO ONE should have to seccomb to their terror like that. Go here download this chappy http://www.spybot.com you must update it while you are logged on dont worry its free but exellent it will radicate that pest. good luck. If you have no antivirus there is one here they are free too: http://www.avast.com the one you want is home one v4 I think good luck.

I haven't checked the link out but the chance of it not being a malicious site is too small to be worth bothering. DON'T EVER GO TO A SITE THAT POPS UP PROMISING TO HELP YOU OUT. My preferred anti spyware products are Spybot Search & Destroy and LAvasoft's Ad-Aware. If you can download the installation files onto another computer and then install and run them on your computer when it is disconnected from the internet and in safe mode, you are more likely to be successful.
