Question about Epson Stylus Photo RX620 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have an epson stylus phote RX620. My print quality is very poor. I've run the head cleaning about 20 times and the nozzle check still has gaps and the printing has lines. I have wasted a lot of ink. The troubleshoot guide on Epson website says it needs to be serviced at a repair center. Do you know of anything that might fix this from home?

Why are there faint horizontal bands in all my prints? When printing photos we need to ensure the printer is set up correctly to achieve the best possible output.
Some of our models have a paper lever (typically located under the printer lid). This is the paper thickness lever and will allow more room between the print head and the paper. The thickness lever should be in the envelope or plus (+) position for media heavier than 25 lbs. If your product does not have a thickness lever, then the print will automatically adjust.
Output issues can also be resolved by selecting the correct driver settings. To access the printer settings from an application, please follow the steps below:
This issue may be caused by leaving your printer on for extended periods of time without using it.
Please note that it is important to always turn your printer off by the power switch (not by a surge protector or power bar) when not in use, as this protects the printheads from exposure to air and dust which can cause blocked nozzles.
Also, we recommend that you use only genuine Epson ink cartridges which have been manufactured by Epson using the most advanced quality processes and inks specifically formulated for your Epson printer. The use of non-Epson ink cartridges or ink refills may cause damage to your printer. These products may also reduce the quality of your printed output.
3.Calculating Lines Per Inch (LPI)
How do I calculate lines per inch (LPI)?
Depending on the resolution, your printer is capable of various lines per inch (LPI). The following is the LPI calculating formula:
dots per inch x .67 = lines per inch
dots per inch x .67 = lines per inch
360 dpi x .67 = 241.2 lpi
720 dpi x .67 = 482.4 lpi
1440 dpi x .67 = 964.8 lpi
The same formula can be used for lines per centimeter.
DPI x .3933 = LPCM
Hole-punched paper is not a supported paper type.

thank you for using fixya.
aside from having it repaired, best bet is to replace the cartridges or if the printer utility has a calibration tool, use that also, aside from just cleaning the nozzle.
if this did not help, get a q-tip, put some ethyl alcohol, do this infront of a fan. swab the nozzle with the q-tip for about 5-8 seconds. once done, shake the cartridge. then run a nozzle cleaning.
these are the DIY when it comes to before-service options.
