Whirlpool Duet F06 Problem Revisited

I've been all over the internet and tested what I can figure out to test on my unit. What I come down to is that I get Zero Ohm readings across the drive motor leads instead of the prescribed 6 ohms. I'm not good at this stuff. There's an excellent article on here that says that if the leads read higher ohms then the drive motor is shot, but what if the leads read zero. Does that mean I need to replace the drive motor or should I be looking for a short somehow somehere on it or....?

Any help would be appreciated.

A reading of 0 ohms indicates a short in the motor winding, i.e., the motor is "burned up".

Error Code 01 F06

Your fault is mentioned here.

An F06 fault code in a Whirlpool Duet washer (the Kenmore HE3/4t's are also made by Whirlpool) usually means a motor-related problem. It usually pops up when the drum won't rotate at all or only very sluggishly. Here's the excerpt from the Whirlpool Duet Service Manual on this:

F06 message

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F06 in your whirlpool duet indicates that the control is unable to properly detect the motor speed and so the washer shuts down. This usually occurs during high speed spin and the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes. To resolve this issue you’ll have to check the wire harness connections between the Driver motor and the Motor control unit (MCU). If that is fine then check the connection between the MCU & central control unit (CCU), replace the part that has gone bad. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

F06 error message with flashing remaining minutes

Here is what the manufacture says about F06 - my comments will follow these.

DRIVE MOTOR TACHOMETER ERROR
The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and
the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during
high-speed spin, the door will be unlocked after three
minutes.

Possible Causes / Procedure
1. Verify the shipping system including shipping bolts,
spacers and cables are removed.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections between the drive
motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between
the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive
motor.
6. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.

Phil's comments--->

If you just set the machine up be sure the shipping bolts have been removed, this is the most common reason for F06.

Other than that there is some type of communication error between the three main components (motor, Motor Control Unit and Central Control Unit) or the wire connectors between the three.

If you have had the unit a while and it is not related to the shipping bolts I would recommend calling Whirlpool
