Question about Samsung Televison & Video

I am unable to figure out how to remove SAP from 2 of my stations when I run the VCR through the Zenith TV. This is a relatively new problem. All the other channels I record are okay. I downloaded instructions as "how" to do this but did not work. Now my "menu & info" screens are black. Also when it is just on a TV station the sound is fine.

    As I said in the above (first message) my menus and info screens come up black--cannot get to the audio portion or any other information on the menu screens. When I checked today almost any station that says "sap" at the top, there is NOT sound going through the TV. The DVD/VCR is a Samsung, and it says V4800. The TV is a Zenith, no number, just says Space Command. Awhile back I did have another problem that seems to be solved or okay. Certain TV stations would be in Spanish if I recorded them on a video tape (not DVD). I also in the past did see in the Menu/Info area (when it was NOT black as it is now) a listing for Language, it is set on English. Also because of the black screen, I cannot access Audio. I just watched another tape I had and all of the programs were okay, even if recorded on a "sap" station. Also I cannot find any of the manuals for the two sets.

LEAVE TV UNPLUGGED OVERNIGHT TO RESET ITSELF. IT SHOULD BE BACK TO NORMAL AFTER POWER DRAINS FROM POWER SUPPLY. THAN GO INTO YOUR MENU SETTINGS AND TURN SAP OFF

Please check the SAP settings in the properties of your TV menu and see if a particular language is checked or not. Also try recording these channels again after modifying the SAP settings.
Please tell me the make and model number of your TV (Zenith TV or Samsung TV). Also tell me the make and model # of the VCR.

if just running HDMI cable try adding audio cables too, check all your volume and mute settings in the system setup.
If you have audio on most channels, but have silence on some or all of your local network channels, you may have the Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) turned ON. Complete the following steps to turn off SAP.
  1. Press the Settings or MENU button on the digital remote.

    Result: The Settings screen displays.
  2. Choose from the following options.

We are unable to get video (picture) on our TV, when we hook up to our new DVD/VCR combo. The combo doesn't have an S-video port and our TV does. We get perfect sound though.


Your TV should also have a regular composite video input jack (yellow) in addition to the s-video input. Use that input instead of the s-video. The video won't be quite as clear as with s-video, but you have to work with what the combo gives you.

Convertor box and Sony Wega with PIP (2 Tuners) and new Digital DVR/VCR


I wonder if the RF interference from the digital tuner. That box will only allow ouput either through the coax or the AV ports. If you do both you will not get a picture.

If you switch them you have to tell the box what your using for output by going through the setup process.

Is the Zenith 901 converter box for your cable TV.

VCR Help


SP means Standard Play. Generally that is the Normal speed at which a VCR Records or Plays back a tape. SP is automatic, as it is the Standard setting. If you wish to record more picture than the normal 120 mins on a tape, then you choose LP (Lond Play) oe EP (Extended Play).

You may have your SAP settings turned on in your VCR. Check your setup menu and turn SAP off SAP stands for Secondary Audio Program, it allows for bilingual sound if the station is transmitting a SAP signal. Thank you,
