  • mj1120 Apr 19, 2009

Is this a bulb or fuse issue.....And if so where are they located

  • mj1120 Apr 19, 2009

Looking at my oven, the left side is the door hinge. So obviously it must behind the control panel which is on the right side of the oven as you look at it.. Once the control panel is taken off, is it easy to find....I'm just not sure if I need an electrician or an appliance repair person. Once the control is taken off is it easy to see

I report a solution from MicrowaveSvc , you can contact them to get support and spare parts:

I quote:"Manufacturers used to include access panels in the rear or side so you could easily change the bulb. That exposed the customer to 110V connectors, and that posed a real liability threat, so they stopped using them.

You now must generally remove the outer cover to replace the bulb.

In many over-the-range models, that can mean having to take the oven down from the wall! For safety's sake, that should be a two-person job and it's really helpful if you have your original installation instructions to do this.

You can find them here: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/

Many models use one halogen lamp to illuminate the cooktop and another to illuminate the cavity. You must not touch them with your bare skin as the oils will shorten the bulb life.
You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

That should tell you where the lamps are located."

Remove the casing to access the lamp. This is a way all counter-top microwaves made and it's done for consumers protection. I would recommend to remove the old lamp and take it to any hardware or electronic supply store to match it up. Though on this model microwave the bulb itself can be up to about $60 for a replacement. It may be more cost effective to buy a cheap replacement then to replace a $60 bulb.

In short yes you will need an appliance repair technician. As you need special tools to remove the cover of the microwave. The repair should not be very expensive as the work should not take very long. But unless you have experience with this type of appliance it is highly unrecommended to do it yourself.

Well this is a bulb issue if the microwave is still getting power but no light. The bulb can easily be found once the casing of the microwave is removed. It will be the only lamp inside and I believe on your model it is on the left when looking at the front of the machine.

I apologize you have to remove the protective casing this is the top and bottom part of the microwave. The control panel does not need to be removed at all. Since yours is mounted below a cabinet it is most likely going to be removed from underneath. As for the light it will look about the same as the end of a flashlight when you remove the top.

Yes they will probably have to remove it from the cabinet in order to take off the protective cover. On some ken mores the cover comes off from the top, some it comes off from the bottom, and others slide out through the back. No matter which way it comes off you are going to need special tools to remove it. An appliance repair technician will have these tools with them as they have to do this quite often.

Kenmore Elite micro/convect model 64289. Convect not heating...F1 error

F 11 code. it is a touch pad error.
if you just cleaned the control panel it may have water in the panel causing a key to stick.
If after a day or 2 it hasn't dried out - then you will need to replace the touch pad.

Kenmore 363.6367 internal light doesn't go on

I had the same problem! I was soooo frustrated! But, when my brother came to town, he took off the grill on the top of the micro hood, took out a few more screws, a plastic screen, another screw in the metal cover for the light and then reached in with his fingers to pull out the light bulb, we replaced it, then re-assembled it. It did take us about 30 minutes to do the job and you will need a phillips screwdriver, and a phillips screwdriver drill bit thing, but we were able to do it. I love having the light in the microhood again.

My microwave is sweating

No. This is usually a sign of poor venting or air flow. It's possible that the coling fan is not circulating the air properly due to a problem with it or maybe the air vents are blocked. Also, there needs to be a couple of inches around a countertop model on all sides - especially the back - to ensure air flow. Look for buildup on the back vent grille. You can listen for the fan to be running and feel the air flow while it's running. If it's weak or not there, it needs inspection / service. A lack of air flow can cause the magnetron to overheat and be damaged. If this is a built-in model also check your air filter, air duct work and outdoor vent flap. Write back if you still have trouble.
