If you hear the motor running it is not the fuse. More likely it is the belt. You can take the back off the dryer to inspect the belt. More likely using a 5/16 nut driver or wrench. Good luck.

Hi, I've got a Kenmore model 110.70052991 and the drum won't rotate. It will intermittently. I have just replaced the belt and it still won't spin consistently. Could it be the

are u able to spin the drum manually? do u hear any sounds? squeaking? scraping? smell anything? the rollers (spinners lol) usually make funny noises when they go out and may still turn but roughly. Bad bearings may be an issue here? However if the motor has bad windings it may not have enough power to run (turn) drum consistantly, u can remove the drum and belt and housing and run the motor by itself and see if it turns and runs easily. with no pressure or weight added? Then add drum and belt, once the drum is added and it stops or runs half hazardly its ur motor ? In some cases the tensioner the belt sits on ( near the motor) can be damaged and cause similar problems , lastly u did add the belt correctly?

Asko T701 stopped running.

Test the wirings to control panel and the switch.
Try also a different outlet, and eventually check with a tester the power cord.
Also the switch must be tested.
If the wirings are ok then the whole control panel can be replaced.

If you want to buy parts you find them here.

Oscillator is not rotating

make this test and fix it. God bless you
Belt

Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt , and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time. . If you hear the motor running but it does not tumble it is most likely the belt.

Motor

If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out.

Remove the belt.

Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.

Manually rotate the shaft of the motor. If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor

If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again.

If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor. Check our videos on testing a motor and capacitor.

Door switch

Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity. When Door is open no continuity when closed you should have a reading. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Clothes dryer drum will not spin. open it up and belt looks ok. now what?

You need to check the blower fan and make sure there's no obstructions (you probably would have noticed by now though).
Remove the belt from the motor pinion and try to rotate the shaft of the motor manually. To remove the belt, you will need to relieve the tension of the belt by moving the idler pulley over to slip the belt off. If it is stiff, or almost impossible to rotate manually, the blower fan housing is clear, then you need to replace the motor. IF.........
The motor shaft rotates freely, try to run the motor with the belt removed. If it does run with the belt removed, then you need to check the idler pulley and the drum itself. The idler pulley is the little wheel that the belt runs around to keep tension on the belt. It may be stiff or frozen.
If you've gotten this far, try to rotate the drum by hand, if it is difficult to do, focus your attention to the rollers and pulley.
If the motor doesnt rotate, even with the belt removed, yet you can turn it freely by hand. You usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.
I hope that you have found this helpful.
Thanks,
Mike

THE DRYER DOES NOT WORK, IT DOESNT SPIN BUT MAKES A NOISE

richy wilson, the motor may be burned out. I think that the lid/door switch isnt the problem. If it is faulty, the dryer shouldnt do anything at all when started.
The first thing I would do would be to gain access into the dryer by removing the top panel and then the front panel. Check to see if the belt is still in one piece or severely worn.
You will probably need to test the motor. You can do this several ways;
1. remove the belt if it is in good shape.
2. check for obstructions in the blower fan housing (usually in the lower left corner. looks like a circle with fan blades throughout)
3.manually rotate the shaft of the motor, if it is stiff then you'll probably have to replace it.
4. if the motor rotates freely, try to run it momentarily with the belt removed. if it does rotate fine, then there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the drum itself. the idler pulley is usually a little wheel that holds the tension of the belt onto the drum.
5. try to rotate the drum by hand. if it is difficult to move, try to correct any problems with the rollers or idler pulley.
6. If motor hums but doesnt rotate on its own, even with the belt removed, yet you can turn it freely by hand, you usually will need to replace the MOTOR, or MOTOR START CAPACITOR.

If you have any further question, feel free to email me. If you do, try to include the model number of the dryer.

thanks,
mike

My maytag model no.mav4755aww makes a whinning sound at the beginning of the spin cycle

Hi
Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.Since you hear whining it means that the bearing is damaged and the seals on bearing are gone too so it rotates without lubricant. It might be possible to hear whining while you rotate empty drum manually...
Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.
Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing. Then replacing the bearing is suggested.
Let us know if you want something more else accept the solution.

Whirlpool dryer WED5530SQ0, heats but does not run

So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!

The Dryer is not rotating

Asad, if you are hearing the motor trying to start I would start with the motor capacitor. Looks like this model has a wash and spin side. Each side has a capacitor for the motor. The manual is not too informative but it looks like there is a switch that has to be made too. But if you are hearing the motor humm, I would start with that motor capacitor
