You have to know exact model. If you don't have CD try Everest or something like that to find needed driver.

Sigmatel is an audio driver for audio hardware. Also, some malware programs replace themselves withSIgmatel-IDT-Systray. Therefore, scan your computer for viruses and malware. Also, you need to completely uninstall Sigmatel driver and install updated Sigmatel driver. Please provide details about your computer hardware. I have a problem with my Inspiron 1150. Just a couple of weeks ago the sound all of sudden stopped working. I have tried to reinstall the SigmaTel driver but it won't let me. An error message comes up...

Your laptop has a hardware problem. The unrecognized sound card and USB ports are a dead giveaway. You probably have a loose wire, or worse, a motherboard that is going bad. If your laptop is under warranty, call Dell and get the laptop to them right away. If not, you'll have to have an experienced repair person look at it and you'll have to decide if it's worth fixing. I'm such a person, and I'm a Dell partner. I'm in Rockville, MD and if you're nearby, please call me or send me a message through my website.

I WANT SIGMATEL HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CODEC DRIVER

Here is a link to the latest drivers. You will need to sign in and then download the files.

http://www.download-provider.com/search/sigmatel+high+definition+audio+codec+driver.html?aff.id=1091&aff.subid=1000

I would open Device Manager and delete the current device and then restart the PC. When it starts and detects the new hardware, cancel the installation. Run the setup file that was downloaded. When the installation has completed, restart the PC again and test the sound.

Good luck!

Dell Inspiron E1505 Audio

Hi artifax,

I have a suggestion/solution for this that I need you to try. Here it is:

first, go to add or remove programs, look for Creative/SoundBlaster and Sigmatels listed there and uninstall every one of them. Then, go to Device manager and uninstall Creative/Soundblaster/Sigmatel under sound and game controllers. reboot the system.

now download and run this,
E1505/6400 BIOS
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R158849&SystemID=INSPIRONI6400/E1505&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=10430&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=9&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=1&fileid=212350

then download and install this,
Sigmatel Audio Driver
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R171789&SystemID=INSPIRONI6400/E1505&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=8907&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=3&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=3&fileid=235761

Do not install any Creative first, then let me know if this works.

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Dell Inspiron 1150 Sound Card

Hi Pace,

Got to Start>Control Panel>System. Click on the hardware tab. Click on Device manager. Go down to Sound, Video and game controller. See if the Sigma is listed there. If it is, right click an select "Uninstall" Then reboot. Windows should detect it, and reinstall it. If that fails, go to Start>Add/Remove Programs and uninstall any Sigma Software. Download this registry cleaner,
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download458.html and save it to your desktop and run it. Reboot, and hope.
You can also try downloading the newest drivers, here,

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_1150&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Good Luck!
