Steam switch doesn't turn off - DeLonghi Stiromeglio Compact PRO 300 Iron

Mix 1:1 water and white vinegar. Fill the water reservoir with mixture and hold the iron like you would normally. Keep pushing the steam button until steam comes out.

There are two cause. One the boiler resistance doesn´t turn of because of snap disc or bimetal thermostat fault or because a coil in the working valve (security valve). But if you can heard a click of opening movement of valve when you push the button it is able to be a thermostat.

Do you drain the vinegar before turning on the iron and steaming through?

Some irons like Rowenta have a self cleaning feature. If yours doesn't make a solution of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water and put it in your iron. Plug it in and allow it to heat that up. keep working your instant steam button for a while. Hopefully the vinegar will help remove the calcium build up and let it work.

If a routine cleaning of steam vents, channels or holes does not clear the blockages, you can use a steam iron cleaner. This is a mild acid type of cleaning mixture specially prepared for such a job. No other form of fluid should be tried; it may damage seals or jointing compounds used inside the iron.Use distylled water very IMPORTANT.

Found the answer. The steam button is built into the handle. Push the button and you have steam.
