I have had my 100cm rear projection for 3 years. in the last 2 days the colors have moved away from where they should be at the top and bottom of the screen.
Sort of in an arch shape. the 2 colors most noticable are green and purple.
Iv been told it will cost me $200 + just to look at so any help would be great.
Is there a part i can put in myself or should it be done by a pro?
I find it facinating that so many tv's break down at about 3 years when the warranty runs out!.
My TV is just over 3 yrs and I have the same problem. I have tried the converge screen but the "red" appears stretched from the top and bottom left creating multiple images of different colors.
Fixable or not???? My TV is just over 3 yrs and I have the same problem. I have tried the converge screen but the "red" appears stretched from the top and bottom left creating multiple images of different colors.
Look at where it's made? If it say's China, it should last from only 1 to 2 years. They don't use quality workmanship and don't offer customer support.

When was the last time u replaced the projection bulb, yes it could be that simple the projection bulb it dead. The bulb last only about 1 or 2 years,by using the tv on about 4 or 5 hours a day.
Sounds like the CRT tubes are going out which is fairly common on Sony. Inside the back of the TV there are 6 knobs - 2 for each color...one is for focus - dont touch - the other for brightness...turn down the brightness just a hair untill the lines go away.
Hi, I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:
http://lgknowledgebase.com/kb/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=3229 If you are not able to adjust the convergence using the remote you will need to replace the convergence chips.
Typical Symptoms
1) Convergence menu does not work for one or more colors. Such as: Red moves up,down, but left or right fails.
2) Screen is bowed looking.
If you have one or more of the problems above you need to replace the convergence chips. You can get a kit and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com Hope this helps :)
