Dear Fixya,

I bought your Premium Email program hoping to get some help imediately as I only have a small amount of time for these projects and I had to do laundry THIS weekend.

I have NO IDEA how to make use of your Premium service as everything that I clicked on in your site lead me to posts with no appropriate answers or the chance to buy the service that I just bought.

Then I finally found that my question wasn't posted yet and none of your no-reply emails were any help.

Also, I think that I sent an email to you with no reply. I realize that it's the weekend but that's when a lot of working people try to fix things...

I'm pretty experienced on the computer but I couldn't get ANYWHERE on your site that was helpful.

I realize that Premium email is not live chat but still, I couldn't get anything usefull from the experience.

To get to the point... I had to call a repairman.

Maybe I'm a real dummy here but, try as I might, I really didn't get any help and I am asking that I get a refund.

Is this possible?

Thanks,
Mark

Kenmore 96272100 won't spin, but heat comes on....

Broken belt most likely. I looked at your model number and your belt number is 341241. Your actual model number with prefix is:
110.96272100When ordering parts you always add the 110. Anyway to replace the belt you first remove the filter. Then you must remove the 2 screws that hold the filter housing to the top because you gotta raise the top. To raise it you grab the dryers back side right behind each hinge and pull the whole top forward a bit while lifting on the front of the top to release the front portion and rotate it to the back. Then you will need a small screwdriver to assist in unplugging the door switch. Then remove 2 screw holding the front on and LIFT up the front to keep from damaging the bottom clips which are flimsy. Once the front is out of your way get the drum out and inspect the rollers. You can lube them with zoomspout oil, it is safe for appliances.

Inglis clothes dryer heats up but drum doesn't

The way to visually see if the belt has broken or not is to 1) unplug the dryer. 2) Remove the lint screen on the top of the dryer. 3) take the two phillips head screws out where the lint trap is. 4) with a flat head screwdriver pop the top of the dryer up by sliding the driver inbetween the top and front of the dryer and pry upwards a little. 5) You'll now see the drum, if the belt is not around it its broken, and if it's visible try to lift it. If it taught, its good. IF THE BELT IS BROKEN OR LOOSE CONTINUE TO NEXT STEPS 6) on the left and right upper inner sides of the dryer you will find two screws, one on each side, remove these and the front should be easlily remove. 7) once off you'll be able to easily see the motor, the belts idler pulley, and everything else.

Roper Electric Dryer Heats but drum won't spin

Yank the filter out the top. Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing. Use a putty knife to pop the top and then remove the screws holding the front on. NOTE: raise up on the front panel slightly so you won't damage the bottom clips. Get the front out yer way and remove the drum. Clean out the dryer and oil the rollers and idler. Use this handy ROUTING GUIDE to see how to put the belt back.

Dryer drum not rotating

Drill holes all the way through the drum. Use carrage bolts to reattach the Bearing block through the drum into the block. Use lock washer and or locktite.

Just get the filter out and remove the 2 phillips screw init's housing on top. Then use a putty knife to press against the spring clips that hold down the top Then just roll the drum around to the top where the holes are to reattach the baffle, get some screws and put it back.87656db.jpg

Dryer won't spin on my kenmore stacked model 417.90812991

This is the 2nd time I have this problem.
IF you look thry the drum to the back you should see 3 screw heads. Mine has one screw still in the hole and 2 empty holes.
This requires the drum to be removed (like take the drier apart). Behind the drum is Asmbly-shaft (ball hitch) (item 32 in the parts list). This what the 3 screws screw into.
I spent 2 days trying to put the screws in without removing the drum not possible (no way to hold the drum in place)
The first time I had to replace the drum because it wore the rim through.
I have to get 3 new screws and some thread locker.
I recommend that you check the screws every month, Use a long phillips screw drive

Kenmore Series 80 Dryer. Heats doesn't spin clothing. Imagine its a belt or spin motor. Need a schematic

No need for a schematic, there are two kenmore dryer belts, 'full size' or 'apartment size', if it is a belt you will be able to here the motor racing unloaded, turn heat to cold before testing, dont want to blow a thermal fuse.

Kenmore dryer comes apart from the front,
  • UNPLUG dryer 220V is not fun
  • remove the lint screen
  • remove the screws under the lint screen holding the case top to the screen holder
  • with a putty knife or other blunt blade release the catches at the front corners of the top and raise top
  • remove screws holding front of case on, from inside the dryer
  • remove door switch cables
  • lift front of case off and set aside,
  • can reach motor, belt, felts and rollers.
  • broken belt will be obvious, lying on the floor
If belt is broken, examine rollers and felt bearings for wear, stuck rollers or no felt left, is the most common cause of belts breaking, extra tension is required to spin the drum, If damaged replace them, they are cheap and easy to do, and it woud be no fun if another belt broke quickly

reasemble after repair in reverse order.

Dryer is leaving brown streaks on cotton clothes

The 417 dryers have two seals on the front panel, the top seal has drum glides which wear down over time. Because the drum rests on those glides, when it wears down it leaves a gap between the drum and the seal, clothes will drag in that gap and come out with rust and/or seal adhesive stains. Try replacing the top and lower seals, this works most of the time...sometimes though, if left unattended long enough, the lack of support from the front glides causes too much strain on the rear drum bearing, and even after replacing the seals clothes may still catch, although the brown spotting will stop for awhile. You can feel the gap if you run your hand along the inside of the drum at the seal point.
