CD TRAY WILL NOT OPEN

I have an older karaoke system (Optimus CDG Karaoke System) that I purchased from Radio Shack back in December, 1999. All has been working fine except that now the CD tray is stuck closed. I know that it is empty and not jammed with anything. I tried to gently pry it open, unsuccessfully. I don't want to screw anything up. Please help! Thanks!! Note: the owners manual cat no. is 32-1166.

I am unable to locate any small hole near the cd drawer and the model no. I believe is 1493595. This is the only set of numbers I found on the entire unit. The numbers were located next to the QC stamp. Please reply.

There is no small hole near the cd drawer at all. Maybe my karaoke unit is too old. I have even looked inside under the drawer with a flashlight (and have poked around with the paper clip) but still nothing. I have not yet began to dissassemble the unit.

Yes, the solution was very helpful. Detailed instruction was right on. The disc tray is out now and works just fine. I also used some compressed air to clean the inside from some accumulated dust. Thanks!

Hi

Try and locate a small hole near the cd drawer. Use a pen or a pin and inser in the hole to manual eject the cd drawer. If that doesn't help then you'll need to disassemble your system. Please follow this procedure to disassemble your player---

Step1--
Unplug the player and take the outer casing of the player off. This entails either taking out two or three screws or simply sliding one of the pieces of plastic in either direction.
Step2-- Locate the disc loader cover. The disc loader cover is located where the extending tray finally comes to rest within the player. It’s the part that holds the cd loader in place. Step3-- Bend the two tabs outward that hold the loader in place. This is a delicate procedure because you don’t want to hurt the device. The tabs are relatively easy to break since they're plastic in most cases. Step4-- Slide the disc tray out. Step5-- Move the small mechanical arm that holds the disc in place over so that the disc and the reader are both exposed. Please provide me with the model # of your optimus CDG Karoke System so that I can provide you with model specific information. Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.
Thanks Rylee

    Hi

If you want to open your cd-drive without the button on the drive you could try this:

get a peperclip make sure it's a straight line.
then somewhere on the drive you will see a tiny hole just large enough for you paperclip to pass through. Then you just have to push a little and it will open. Also ,please let me know if you tried to disassemble the player if this is not working.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

How do I get the lyrics to play on the screen using the karaoke anywhere app? I hear the music but there's no lyrics

The Karaoke Anywhere app will play standard MP3+G zip files. These contain two files. One must be an mp3 file and the other must be the accompanying cdg file. The zip file cannot contain any other files or folders.
It seems from what you describe, the file you are attempting to play through Karaoke Anywhere is an MP3 file but that it either does not have a proper CDG file, or the MP3+G zip file is not in the proper format.

Your reader is probably going bad. You can try cleaning it with one of those home CD player cleaner kits and that might work for you.

The cd portion does not work . Need to know where to take it get it fixed

What doesn't work about the CD?
If it takes a CD, but doesn't play it, then the laser lens may need cleaning. Radio Shack has a CD laser lens cleaner disc for $13.
Get it and read & follow directions. It won't harm the player if it is not done correctly, so it is safe. No chemicals are needed.

Purchased JM258 Karaoke machine and led displays E when trying to play CD

The lid of the CD player was loose resulting in the CD not being able to play. If I hold the lid closed or place a book on it it will play. Needless to say, I will be exchanging it for one that works properly.
