First check to see that you are getting a spark. if you are getting spark (if same plug when you bought it change spark plug) make sure it is correct plug for that mower, make sure you have good gas. If still not starting and the machine probably was sitting for a while, clean the carb and then it should run fine.

I did not know riding mower had a gas pedal. I know if you leave the throttle control up all the way the engine will choke out. The pedal you are pushing, I think, is the forward/reverse hydrostatic transmission. You may need a new drive belt. The one you have now may be stretched out.

just jack it up so you can get under the deck and unscrew the bolt on center of ech blade take note on how the curves of blade are angled do one at a time incase you forget but bolt back up tight and you are ready to cut if you try to resharpen the blades make sure you balance them or they will mess up the deck bearings
