STEP ONE. Ground the E-Brake wire.
No matter which method you use, you must ground the brake detection wire. I suggest you tap it into the ground wire on your wiring harness (ensures a good ground).

FACTORY RESET METHOD (not permanent)

1 Go to the Menu
2 Get to the Settings Menu
3 Select <yes> to Reset to Factory Settings.

Have recently heard complaints of this method not being permanent, as this is needed whenever they want to watch a DVD. Also, radio and screen angle presets are lost.

METHOD 2
AUDIO CD METHOD (Permanent)
1 Insert Audio CD
2 Press PLAY
3 Press STOP twice on remote
4 Enter 26604 on remote
5 Press ENTER
6 Take out Audio CD and Insert a DVD
----------------
METHOD 3
DVD METHOD (Permanent)
** Insert a DVD
** Let it play until you hear sound
** Press STOP twice on remote
** Enter 26604
** Press ENTER

The blue warning screen should immediately go away after pressing the last digit of "26604." Still press ENTER as a precaution.

The 3rd method seems to work with most of the duals

I used a toggle switch for my panasonic. This should work for all.
Use a toggle switch. 1 to power, 2 to signal wire or wire that is suppposed to be connected to the e-brake, 3 to ground to chassis.
When you turn on the deck, turn the toggle switch to on position for 2 secconds. Then turn off. That should work.

I just bought a dual xdvd9101 indash dvd player and cant get the brake bypass to work

However, some units use different methods. Some require seeing a pulse (i.e., power-ground-power-ground-etc.), resulting in the annoying need of pushing the e-brake a few times before your video will pop up. This can generally be recreated by using a 3-prong switch (you can get one at AutoZone). Connect it backwards -- the ground to power, power to ground, and the "Load" to the Parking Brake wire on the back of the radio. Flip the switch back and forth a few times and sometimes the video will pop up.
Some fancier units cannot be cheated. They use an internal gyro mechanism that detects movement.
Some even feature bypass codes. By pressing a certain combination of buttons on the remote then entering in a code it will permanently allow video.
Be good.

How to by pass the e brake wire

at this time there isn't a code bypass for this model. the easiest thing to do so that you can play video while in motion. is to put a toggle switch on the parking brake wire of the dual screen. then do the ebrake pattern on the switch instead of the ebrake in the car

1. disconnect the parking brake wire of the dual from ur ebrake wire in your car.
2. take your 2 wire toggle switch and connect one wire to Ground(metal)
3. take the other wire and connect it to the parking brake wire of the dual screen.

if i remember correctly, the pattern for the dual screens is.
1. starting in the off position.
2. on for 2 secs
3. off for 2 secs.
4. then on .. the the video will show.

hope this helps

Parking brake safety bypass

here is what you need to do is, get a toggle switch and hook one side to a ground and the other side to the parking brake wire on the unit.
use the switch as a brake because you have to set brake for a few seconds then release and set again but keep it on this time.
you will have to do this every time you start the car.

Bypass e-brake wire

Hi,

Normally, to by-pass, you need to ground the yellow/blue wire of the Dual XDVD 8183. This would simulate the condition where the vehicle is in “Park” and the parking brake is engaged thus allowing the unit to operate even if the vehicle in reality is not in “Park” and/or the parking brake is not engaged. Some regions have restrictions on this condition.

Additionally, some versions would require a SPDT switch moving the yellow/blue wire from 12V+ to GND to be bypassed.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information. A friendly reminder pls, "Drive Safe".

Good luck and Kind regards.
