Question about Bosch KSU49630 Top Freezer Refrigerator

Bosch ksu 3977 fridge/freezer not maintining temp

Hi
both doors operate cut off switch, booth seem to work normally ie noise stops when door open, starts when closed. The switch on the refridgerator door also switches on light when open. This isn't working properly, as to get the light on the switch button needs to be pulled out a fraction as it isn't travelling quite far out enough on its own to make the contact inside the switch (this happened around the same time - maybe a clue?) When fridge has been used the temp drops from -18 to -13 or -14 and takes AGES to get back to -18, sometimes with alarm going off. Overnight it maintains perfect temp.
Thanks for any help you can give.

the evaporator is probably iced up and hence poor air flow. (i am assuming it is a frost-free type). switch off and leave for 24 hours with door open is the easy cure. otherwise, remove the back inside panel of the freezer and melt off the excess ice with a hairdryer used carefully

The compressor behind the fridge should cycle on and off as the machine maintains temperature, but the evaporator fan inside the freezer will keep running, except when the fridge goes into defrost. If the noise is coming from the fan inside the freezer, there could be some ice on the frame of the fan and the blades are touching the ice. If the noise is coming from behind the fridge it could be the condensor fan motor. This fan is situated behind the fridge in front of or next to the compressor. It keeps the condensor cool by blowing air onto it. Check this fan. The blades could be touching the pipework or something.

Generally, these doors drop from excessive weight, a warn part or loose fittings. Unload the door and investigate. You may also want to check that the unit is levelled...the box may be warping/sagging...although this is unlikely.

The circuit board is fitted behind the display right at the top.

Unplug.
Open fridge, undo the two screws under the display moulding.
Using a thin bladed scraper and a flat screwdiver, prise the panel off at the top join. The top is the only bit with plastc clips, but it will help to apply pressure with the screwdriver at one end as well.
Pull it forward by about 2", and remove the connectors to the on switch.
There may be a drip strip to remove before taking the board out.
Use a thin screwdriver to remove the retaining clip over the board.
Use a small flat screwdriver to lever the board out using he holes at each end.
Observe anti-static precautions as it contains Cmos chips.

Reverse procedure to replace.

SOURCE: what is the light switch button for in the fridge

The switch is curved so when you close the door the light will also close. How do you know if the light is on when the door closes?Try pushing on the switch and you will see that the light will close. If that is what you are asking. If you push on the switch and the light stays on then you have a faulty switch. hope this helped:)

If this is struggling to maintain temperature like this, either the system is low on gas (motor running all the time) or the fan has stopped which you should be able to hear. Make sure that the fan is not just jammed.also check the return air vent in the fridge as if this gets stuck with a spillage ie O.J. etc, the fridge cannot get air from the freezer and the freezer runs continually (-30) but the thermostat never cuts out in the fridge. Last idea most likely.

Loud whirring noise that stops when freezer door is open.

It is most likely your circulation fan in the freezer. Normally the fan stops when you open the door. It is a normal operation. Check to make sure that the fan is not blocked by frozen items or that the fan doesn't have an ice build up. On some models the fans stops when you open the door and starts a few minutes later after you close the door.

Zanussi Electrolux frost free fridge/freezer - freezer defrosting

My husband left the freezer door open a couple of months ago, causing ice to form. The loud rattling noise was the fan hitting the ice. The reason why the temperature started to rise but the noise stopped was because the fan had got stuck in a block of ice and was no longer working. Simple solution - defrost the freezer for 24 hours. Touch wood, it is all working fine now!
