Is it an Xbox or XBox 360?
if its an Xbox you shoud look at the front panel in the direct middle of the console. The bigger of the two buttons is your "Eject" or "Open" disc tray button.
the smaller one is the "Power" button.
i dont know if they have any remotes for the original xbox, but i do know they have one for the 360.

The 360 is not designed to run with just any DVD player in it.
You have to purchase certain ones and edit settings internally on the 360 for them to work.
This requires a bit of hacking into your 360 though and isn't advised.
you need to
purchase a lazer disc cleaner it looks and works just like a normal dvd disc
but it has brushes on it that when put through the player brushes the dust of
the laser lens this needs to be done on a regular bases to keep your lazer
working to its optimum level and hense fixing your problem.
Hi its better to make your DVD region free, please follow these steps:The internet has made it easier to purchase obscure foreign movies on DVD that aren't sold in this country. DVD's have region codes so they will only play on certain DVD players. For instance, US DVD's are region 1 while Europe and Japan are region 2. The only way you can play a foreign DVD then is to purchase a region free DVD player or make your DVD player region free.
Get a DVD player. If you purchases a DVD player, make sure you purchase a DVD player that people have had success in converting to region free. If you already own a player, you will need to note down the make and model of your player.Step 2
Look up the DVD hack for your player. There are several sites that feature DVD hacks. Two popular sites are DVD Exploder and Video Help. Simply look up the make and model of your DVD player and check to see if there is a hack.
it is definately a possibility that where you keep your Xbox is the problem. ive actually gone through 3 so far (thank god for the xbox return service) on the latest one i moved it to on top of a speaker away from anything that gives off heat when in use (like your dvd player) and its outlived the other 2. good luck!
