Question about Panasonic PVQ-2510 25 in. Combo

Pvq2510 horizontal line of death

When I turn on the tube, there is a horizontal lit line across the middle of the screen. I was told by a TV repair shop that there's likely a blown capacitor (probably one of two is the culprit). I'm trying to figure out which two capacitors I should be looking at replacing. I could take a picture of the inside of the TV and send it to whoever could definately point the two capacitors out to me.

90% of the time -replace lthe LA7837 vert Ic on heat sink at top of small standup pc board and 100 mfd 35 v cap which connects to the diode just below the vert Ic.(note the polarity of the cap)
( LA7838 is a better replacement for the LA7837

Ok the TV repair shop was correct the problem is with out a schematic you won't know which one it is. Let me explain. Even if you send a picture that actually tells a technician nother but the location of two capacitors. What is needed is a part number c13, c67... you get the point and then these can be looked up in a schematic to determine where they are in the circuit. I would suggest getting a schematic and sending an electronic copy to whomever you want to help you with this problem. I would be glad to help you but as a technician of 25 years I can only say that having and providing a schematic would be of a greater help then a picture. Unless yo plan on taking a picture of the whole circuit board and sending the model number and make of your TV to a technician so that they can look at the picture compare it to a schematic that they have (if they have one) and using that determine which capacitor or capcitors have to be replaced. Thank you,

An older tube model - audio okay, no video - only a narrow line across the middle horizontally

Sad to say this is likely the death of it.
Technically, the time base line output has ceased to function.
Unless you feel it's a full blown crusade to have a vintage working TV you're going to have a hell voyage (unless you're extemely lucky) of cost in time and money to get that put right which you may decide aint' a road worth going down.
Better to put your money into a new flat screen TV but if you've the storage space don't scrap the old TV. Depending on it's present age it will be worth something soon to a collector or theatre/TV/movies props hire supplier.

I have audio but no picture except a horizontal light across the middle of screen. Sylvania 32" tube type TV. Model SST4324

Sounds like your Output Transistor has blown. I would suggest you take to your nearest TV repair person. Will most likely cost between £30 to £50...
!.This is not a job you should carry out yourself. As you are dealing with High voltage, even when TV is turned off.!
Hope this helps

JVC picture turns into a single line in middle of screen.

This is caused due to random falure of vertical scan circuits. It generally is caused by dried out capacitors or bad driver IC. Unfortunately it will get worse. If you fail to turn the TV off quickly you will burn a permenant horizontal line on the tube. Trip to the repair shop I am afraid.

Black screen with a horizontal white line across the middle.

You would need to replace the flyback on this and your looking aroung $65 parts and $85 labor to shore this problem up. We can recommend you a repair shop or you can purchase a new TV its all up to you

TV: bright line across black screen for several hours.

vertical output ic needs to be resoldered. careful leaving that bright line displayed on the screen as this will cause a permanent phosphor burn into the tube. this can not be corrected once burned unless you replace the tube. mch

Susie, you either have a shorted green drive transistor or more likely a shorted cathode inside your picture tube, transistor repair is a cheap fix, picture tube means set is not worth cost of repair, hope this helps

POP and noothiing

yes it can still be fixed! the pop sound you've heard maybe came from a blown capacitor in the vertical deflection circuits. this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
