Thank you very much. Things have changed since I rode in the late 70's. God bless, Glenn

To remove the freewheeling sprocket from the wheel, you will need the jig made for that sprocket. these are usually available at the bike shops, you will have to bring in the wheel or take note of the manufacturer of the freewheel and any model numbers. or you can have them pop it off for you
Hope this is of some help.

I need to know the size of the center hole on a 19 tooth transmission sprocket for an apc mini chopper Thanks

Why do you need to know the size of the centre hole. That one look in great condition. The size is the size of the shaft it fits on, so you measure the narrower distance, which is between the sprocket tooth that is under the middle of your thumb nail, to the second tooth past your index finger. All this links have info.

I need to change the rear gear sprocket, but don't know what speed the mountain bike is. How can I tell what speed the bike is.

Count the cogs, duh. You're going to need some help even after you know if it's 6-, 7-, 8, 9- or 10-speed in the rear. Special tools and 'how-to' knowledge. Take it to a Bicycle Shop an experienced DIY cycling friend.

I don't have a manual. The bike is older, it is a Huffy Blades, Hampton Cruiser. I don't know how to use the gears. Can I find instructions on-line? Thank you

    Hello,

I try to find some, but it is pretty simple. It is probbly a 10-speed...you don't say. On a typical 10-speed, it has a lever for the front sprocket and a lever for the rear. The front ususally has 2 choices and the rear 5 choices. Some just have 10 sprockets on the rear.

The thing to remember is that the bigger the sprocket...the harder it is to peddle. When going uphill you need to use the smaller sprockets.

I did find this general guide for Huffy multi-geared bikes:

    http://www.huffybikes.com/pdf/ownersmanuals/fa11eeae-2ed4-4bbb-ae27-1dcf442f58ff.pdf

    Thanks for using Fixya.

The spacing is the same between each cog on an indexed system. An unusual problem like yours does not lend itself to fixing over the Internet - too many possibilities. Get some in-person help at a bike co-op or bike shop.

Chain & Sprocket turn, but Rear Wheel Not engaging/spinning

The problem is witht he flywheel on the rear wheel assembly. I had mine fixed by a professional last night (at a bike store). Razor uses a very cheap spring that is designed to fail and then to top that off did not use enough bearings as well (12 bearings short out of the factory). My son had also sprayed WD-40 all around the back axle (trying to make it faster). This is bad because, the bearings are packed in grease and WD-40 is a de-greaser. Never get WD-40 anywhere near your back axle!!! Anyway, the flywheel was way easier to remove than I thought. It is threaded onto the rim's axle shaft and just screws off. Once you get the flywheel, off you have to take it apart, fabricate a new spring (my son's new spring came from an old 10 speed's tensioning spring), reset the 3 pawls, repack the bearings, put the flywheel back together, and screw it back onto the wheel. I will post a YouTube video on this later. Hopefully this is enough info to get you started.
