I'm so sorry, I gave you the model # for the ice maker.

The model # for the fridge is: 363.9711781

Thank you again and I will correct the rating. You have been so helpful.

I double checked the model # & 363.9711781 is what is on the sticker. It also has Serial # L 106 49397 in case that helps. This is an older model. I am guessing about 13 years.

    Thank you,

    S. Smith

Your water valve (the one on the fridge where the hose from the wall is hooked up to) has failed and should be replaced. Look inside the fridge and get the model number off the sticker in there (it'll start with three digits then a decimal point then about 7 more numbers. e.g. 106.*******). Post it back here and I'll get you a part number, deal?

Sorry, but that's not the entire model number. Could you look at it again? There should be 3 before the decimal point and about 7 more digits to the right of it.

p.s. I see you've rated this solution before we finished... Why not rate it all the way as "FixYa"?

Yeah, I got the same thing when I pulled up the first model number... it was an Ice Maker kit. Well? The second number you provided (363.9711781) didn't show anything at all.

So can we try again, maybe?

    Hi, S.

Still the same... here's what I get when searching through the Sears parts site. Zilch, Zero, Nada. So, undaunted, I came up with an idea.

The "363" at the beginning of the model number indicates that your fridge is made by G.E. So I went to my appliance parts catalog and looked up the GE valves. Then I scanned the page and uploaded it for you. So all you gotta do is d'load the scan I made and compare your valve to the ones on the page. Here's the scan (sorry that it's upside down).

This should FixYa right up. Please don't forget to "upgrade" your rating of this solution, deal?

Where do I find the ice maker inlet water valve or solenoid? The valve on the back of my fridge has only one hose going to both the water dispenser and ice maker and the water dispenser works fine.

Since there is water that flows to the water dispenser, the water valve is working. Now, there's a spout that water flows from to the icemaker tray. Look for it. It's located on the back wall inside the freezer and maybe behind the icemaker tray. Check and see if it's frozen. If so, defrost your freezer by turning the temperature gauge to off position. Wait a while until it's defrosted, then turn it back on.
Next, make sure that the metal wire is in down position.

If that doesn't work, your icemaker maybe defective and needs replacement.

Ice maker water flow continously

That is cause by a defective dual water control valve. Just like a leaking faucet the water will continue to leak until the dual water control valve is replaced.
on Sears model refrigerators the model number looks most times like this example 321.256475
Below is a short video explaining how to on many refrigerators. If you have questions please post your questions here and I will be glad to help, Thanks Sea Breeze

The water line leading to the icemaker is frozen so the water can not flow into the icemaker

you will need to replace water valve, it's not completely closing and water is leaking a little, so it's frosted in the water line.
other choice is install heater on water line, on all new refrigerators it's installed.

It's very possible that the water inlet valve isn't cutting off completely. I had that to happen on mine.

Icemaker continues to run water for several minutes

Change your icemaker module. It is getting stuck in the fill position. They are about 50 dollars or so and are held on with 3 screws normally.

Leaking water in icemaker. water from icemaker leaks into freezer and freezes on freezer wall

If you are sure that it's coming from the ice maker I believe that you possibly have a leaking water control valve on the side for the ice maker on the rear of refrigerator near floor there is a dual water valve control. Many times when this happens the water will freeze in the fill tube that fills the ice maker in the rear of freezer. You can defrost the frozen water in the fill tube with a hair dryer but that will not stop the problem from coming back. When that happens water tends to at times go everywhere but the ice maker. You can test the water control valve several ways. By unplugging the side to the ice maker and if water continues to flow slowly to the ice maker then the dual water control valve will need replaced, Sea Breeze

Ice maker or supply line leaking water at icemaker

Hello Carltomoree,

Interesting question(s)...

Problems COULD be a lot of things... but since you have gone to all the trouble to locatize A PROBLEM... I would LOOK
right there first... and fix that...

PLASTIC FITTINGS do often split and fail... or simply need to be reseated and firmly tightened... (do not overtighten).

Water valve... too strong... (probably not)...

BECAUSE a leaky water delivery can have
a profound effect on the fill of the ice cube tray...

Allow the refrigerator to stabilize... SEVERAL DAYS
and then start worrying about the fill level...

Ice makers are TYPICALLY adjustable for different water flows.
so the amount of water delivered per cycle... or delivery of small cubes ... even the frequency of delivery can usually be adjusted

Worry about that LEAK first.

Check out the link below...
A whole new head is still available for your refrigerator
but wouldn't it be nice if it were only an inexpensive
PLASTIC coupling or a split PLASTIC feeder tube...??

Water leaking from left side ice/water dispenser

If you describe a constant flow of water from the ice maker then the solenoid valve is either leaking by when it's upposed to be off or the motor module is stuck in the "fill" position. If it was stuck in fill you would be getting a LOT of water all the time so if you only have a trickle then the solenoid valve may be letting water leak by it. The diagram here shows the parts for a better idea of what you may need to look at (and where it's at).

Ice maker water wont shut off continues to run even when tray is full

The ice maker water fill solenoid may be leaking by and needs to be replaced. If you disconnect the water line from the solenoid and you see it continues to flow water then that valve is not seating properly. Another slight possiblility is the ice maker motor module gear is stuck in the fill position. See the attached link for a diagram. If the geared wheel just happens to get stopped in the "fill" position it will fill with full force water. If there is only a trickle of water then the soleinoid valve is the more likely source of the problem.
