Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Sony KF50WE610 720p scale is wrong

I have two problems with my set: 1 All 720p programs come out as 420p or 420i (I'm not sure which one but the set shows the picture as a shrunk size like 420p). Note that 1080i programs work fine. To debug I have tried to use both the HDMI and componet inputs and both show the same issue. 2 The TV has trouble starting: many times the light will blink and I hear a buzz upon power up. Sometimes the picture will come after a period of time.

Re: Sony KF50WE610 720p scale is wrong

(1) what is your source? cable box? satellite? Your source could be your problem. Your TV just pick up what is sent to it.

(2) Light blinks and buzzing is a symptom of a lamp going bad. Just change your lamp. lamp part number XL-2100

I have a sony projection tv model:kp-57ws500. The picture went out and i get 5 blinks fromt the front led. How can I fix it and where can I buy the parts?

Sony Customer Information Services Center
or visit the Sony Web Site:

1-800-488-SONY (7669)
Make sure the projection TV’s power cord is connected securely to the wall outlet.
❏ Push the power button on the front of the projection TV.
❏ Check to see if the TV/VIDEO setting is correct: when watching TV, set to TV,
and when watching connected equipment, set to VIDEO 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7.
❏ Try another channel. It could be station trouble.
❏ The Parental Control feature is activated
❏ If your projection TV does not turn on, and a red light keeps flashing, your
projection TV may need service. Call your local Sony Service Center

My sony 3LCD TV m/n KDF-E60A20 keeps turning off for about 30 seconds then on for about 1 or 2 minutes. we rerplaced the ballast. what could be wrong ?

It sounds like a defective themal cutoff sensor which is mounted near where the lamp housing slides in. They are well known to fail giving false thermal problems.. Other than that make sure fans are clean and vents are unabstructed. Or could possibly be a lamp. But I suspect the thermal cutoff sensor
Heres its part number 1-910-023-93 should be available at Vance Baldwin or other electronic distributors for about 6.00

Program name and time displayed across top of screen and I can't get it off.

Not sure which sony tv you have. Assuming its the tv and not a cable box or satellite receiver, there is a usually a button marked display on sony remote. That should clear any On Screen Displays.

Make sure that the sony remote is working and the universal remote is programmed correctly by using them on another Sony television. You can try a set at a store that sells TV's. If the remotes are working, then the number one suspect is the Remote Receiving Unit (RRU) inside the set. The microprocessor does cause this problem, but, it is rare. Hope this helps.
