Drive E No Burnability

All of a sudden my Dell E510 does not see when I have a disc in my E drive. I cannot burn a disc, and although I can play an audio disc in the E drive (eventually), I cannot open any other files like pix or video in that drive. Is it the driver? I haven't uninstalled anything and I'm only using the Roxio LE Edition RecordNow which came with the computer. Do I have to get on the phone with Dell?

I have a Dell E510. My D drive plays all cd's and dvd's. My E drive which is the burner, plays and burns music, however will not recognize any dvd's. It does not matter which program that I am in. I have tried all types and brands of dvd's. I use the Sonic software which came with the computer.

CD\DVD BURNING Downlaod a Free CD\DVD Burner Software here >> http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/?page_id=5 First Check the Data cables starting from the Motherboard then on the Drive Note on PIN1. It is suggested that a CD Drive should be slave to a Master HDD so set the Jumpers properly. Hope this helps =============================================== If you are having trouble with Newly bought items save your self from headaches by returning them and demand a replacement or a refund! Your cdrom drive can read a data disc or play cd audio? Check if its CDR/CDRW not DVDR/DVDRW, buy a disk cleaner and play it on your cd/dvd drive. After that try to burn again.

I need to reinstall ethernet driver on my desktop but it will not connect to the internet.

If this problem is in direct relation to the heading,
Dell Dimension E510 Desktop PC, here is the download page for the Ethernet driver,

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIMENSION%205150/E510&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Download to the computer you are on now, if it has a CD burner optical drive.
Burn this driver to a blank CD-R disk.

(I advise do not use a CD-R/W disk, because it can be written over. Do not put anything else on this disk but driver/s. Label the center of the disk)

Now start the Dell, wait for Windows to fully load, put this disk in the optical drive.
Left-click on Start>My Computer.

Go to to the drive letter that corresponds with the optical drive the CD disk is in, and Double-click on the drive letter.

Follow the Installation Wizard's instructions.

Unable to read cds /dvds, made by me, of my photos. It will play pre recorded DVDs. ie Palin set. can see files but then computer hangs. Running Vista. Similar occurs on my desktop but I get the blue...

lost of things could be happening ,depending on optical drive manufacturer, file type, plus or minus dvd/cd blank disk and burning software and how you are burning the media, all can cause malfunctions, but if playing a disc causes blue screen of death, then i would first uninstall display adapter driver on graphics card, and restart, when computer finds new hardware, click cancel,go to dell support and get newest driver, and software,reinstall..some optical drives like minus discs, some like plus discs, depending on the drive,if its a combo drive and will read and write both plus and minus discs, then the problem is how you are burning them,or the laser is dirty or drive is malfunctioning.if you arent allready using nero burning software, then i would reccomend it,i have been doing this a long time, had my days of problems,,not anymore,i dont work for nero nor am i paid by them to say this, but i am a computer repair tech with 25+years experience, save yourself hours of pain and wasted blank discs, and purchase it,user friendly ,easy to use ,and advanced drive speed tools ,allow max preformance on any computer, read instructions ,discs must be burned with correct file type for device that plays them back ,disc at once or track at once settings ,matter, also using the slowest burning speed, creates a higher quality disc, but takes longer, post comments if you have more questions ,aloha from maui todd0708

Dimension E510 dvd burner will not burn

Go to this link and click on the Fixit box. Microsoft has an issue with CD/DVD recognition and created a patch. This happens a lot when Windows Update runs and installs SP3. Hope this solves your problem. If it doesn't, right click on your DVD drive and ensure that recording is enabled. Hope this solves your recording issue.

CD WANT BURN ALL THE WAY

if the problem persists with different types of discs and you've already tried multiple burning programs...nero, roxio, nti..then your problem is with the dvd drive specifically. you can get a new one fairly cheap for less than 50 dollars.

Dell e510 cd dvd rw not working

Try going into your Device manager start right click on my computer click on properties then click hardware tab. Under this tab click device Manager. Under disc drives find the drive that you are having problems with and right click on it. Then try to update drivers. If this dose not work do the same thing but this time uninstall the drive. After it uninstalls go to your controll pannel and click on add hardware. It should find and reinstall the cd rom and it's associated files and hopefully work once again.

Dell Cd/Dvd burner not working properly

I have a Dell XPS 400 that's about 3 years old. I have a DVD reader and a DVD-RW device. The former works - the latter takes forever to read discs (particularly DVD data discs.)

I'm starting to think some of the generic DVD-RW devices Dell uses in its computers are prone to early failure. The DVD-RW in my XPS-400 was called "HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H21N".

I'm going to try cleaning it, and then just swap it out for a better device.

Have you tried several DVDs? Maybe it doesn't read some types of DVDs.
