You should be able to use your SIM card in any phone as long as the phone is not locked to a network. Whether your calling plan allows data is another issue.

Did you replace the battery with a new battery, or one known to be good? With the CORRECT battery? If the new battery's polarity is opposite the original battery, you probably destroyed the phone. The same thing may have also destroyed the charger.
