Soap and water coming out the front of the dishwasher

We just moved into a new home. The GE Nautilus dishwasher is brand new. We have had soapy water oozing out the front and bottom of the door periodically during a run cycle. The door gasket appears to have a 3 " gap in the middle of the bottom on the door. Is this gap supposed to be there? Could this be part of the problem?

I did not mention that the gasket "gap" is 3 ". It is almost like it was made that way.

Thank you. We do not know for we did not build the house. However, upon closer inspection, it appears that the gasket is made this way. There does not appear to be a track for the gasket where the gap is. We don't think that is the issue, but we are not sure.

I would think that the gasket is not doing the job, can you pull the gasket together to decrease the gap. If not then try another gasket if it's not on warrentee

Has the gasket ever been removed, if so is it possible that it was reinstalled upside down. Maybe the gap/space should be on the top rather than bottom.

Sorry I didn't help, what is the brand of dish washer, model #. I've had some problems with my dish washer before and used http://www.reliableparts.com/ to help with diagnostics or parts look up. At the bottom of the page there is a 'model lookup number' field to fill in. It gives exploded diagrams of your machine and part numbers. Probably one of the best sites I've seen in a long time. One more idea might be to check the float, if for some reason it may be getting stuck and over filling on occassion, once again sorry I could be more of an assistance.

I ran a load of dishes and the soapy water leaked out on the floor. The dishes were done, but there was standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher. Do I need a repair man?

Someone put dish soap in your machine. Put some ... SOME ... salt in your machine and run it empty - turn off the heaters for this cycle.

If you are CERTAIN THIS IS NOT THE CASE, maybe you should call the repair guy in your area.

Hi Lisa in AR

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: Why won't your soap dispense anymore?

Yes, you're correct. This is best looked at by a local pro! You may want to compare the cost of repairing a six year old dishwasher now verses temporarily putting the soap in manually till you can find a good price on a new one. Personally, I loath throwing good money after bad so I go for the latter and we're coming up on the holiday discount season.

GE Nautilus Dishwasher - The soap door is stuck partcially open

Advance the timer, with one hand on the dispenser door. The timer should release the door at times during it's cycle, it may need a little help, but not very hard to turn.

You need to prime the dishwasher by placing two large cups of water into the bottom.
