depending what make this is, most soap compartments are now universal parts and can be replaced at a reasonable cost, this part is not too difficult to fit, once you have the new part, just swap for swap, the front door skin comes off and all will be straight forward, work with care and be safe, note any parts before removal, (little tip, i use a digital camera to note what went where / like wires etc)
I too thought my soap container spring was broken- I filled the dispenser with soap but then couldn't slide the circle back shut. But then - EUREKA- I set the dishwasher control back into "off" position and lo and behold, I could now close the little round door! Make sure you verify that BEFORE you spend $$$ on new parts or a repairman!

I opened the dishwasher and found that there was water lying in the bottom, I removed the filter, which was pretty clear. Is it the pump not working?

washer gets stuck a short time into wash program and seems to foam up. It will stay heating and washing all night! It had the same fault six months ago, but seemed to clear itself. If the program knob is advanced manually the drain pump will operate normally. Is it something to do with what seems an excessive amount of foam?
