I had the same thing happen on my Maytag dishwasher, I replaced the water inlet valve which solved the problem immediately, cost me $45.00 and I did it myself in about 1/2 hour. I spent more time turning water off than actually fixing. Check out this site, type in your model number you can find exploded view of your machine and if you have a store in your neighbourhood you can order the part.
