For other models, like the GCVH6260, you remove the lower front panel, which is held on by 3 screws, and unscrew the filter, which is a round white plastic thingie on the right side. (unlike the video, there is no convenient flip down spout for the water to drain out.) be prepared to catch about a litre of water when opening the filter. a good-sized tray or bowl works, and have a cloth or towel handy to mop up any spillage.
slide it out, clean it, and slide it back in. on my machine the closed position was marked with a blue mark along the edge - it's a nylon plug with a rubber gasket, so apparently it doesn't need to be overtightened. just turn it back to the way it was.

Thank you for this information my model is a GE wcvh6600 access to the filter was the same, I ended up making some cash as there was 1.87 in coin inside... Lol. But the real problem was found after sticking my finger into the pump inlet from inside the filter port. I could feel a piece of material inside wrapped around the impeller. Once I finally got a hold of it, and pulled it out I found one of those small eye glass cleaning cloths. Once it was removed and the filter was reinstalled, I poured a bucket of water back into the machine and started the spin / drain cycle. Everything worked fine..... Luckily the pump survived. Thanks again !

Thank you for this information, my model is a GE wcvh6600 and it was the same to access the filter area. I ended up making some cash as well, once I pulled the filter out I found a whopping 1.87 :) I figured this alone should not cause the unit to shutdown each time the spin /drain cycle was active, so while in the filter compartment I stuck my finger into the impeller port (inside the filter port to the right) I felt some material wrapped around the impeller. After removing it, I discovered one of those small eye glass cleaning cloths. When this was removed I reinstalled the filter, and poured a bucket of water back into the machine. Then set the washer to spin/drain cycle and everything functioned properly again. I was lucky the pump survived. Thanks again. Remember when washing small loose items put them in a zipper bag.

The filter is hidden below the lower front panel (3 screws hold this in place) Turn the pump cleanout knob counterclockwise about 2 turns and be ready to mop up any water that leaks out as you remove it. To avoid spillage, you can pull the machine out and tip it backwards 45 degrees.

My front loading GE WASHER WILL NOT DRAIN OR SPIN THIS MACHINE ISN"T VERY OLD WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE?

A common occurance is blockage of the water pump propellers. Check your machine's manual to familiarise yourself with the drain filter.

Please note by openning the filter, the existing water in the machine will drain out on to the floor. Be prepared for this with towls and mops.

Clean out the filter. Use a torch to look into the cavity and make sure nothing has gone through the filter to the pump propellors.

Once the filter is clean and all the water has drained out. Start the machine on spin cycle. If you can hear the water pump working then all should be well. If there is no sound from the water pump, it needs replacing or further investigation by a technician.

Good Luck.

Zanussi IZ 12 pump access

You should not need to remove anything to check and clean pump filter.
Open the filter door at the bottom right front of washer, there you will see the pump filter cover, unscrew the filter anti-clockwise, and remove the filter, and clean same.
With the filter out, you will see the filter housing, which is fastened directly on to the pump, have a good look inside the housing, and see if anything is stuck in there.
Refit filter, and test.
Please rate my fixya solution.
Thanks.

THE GE WASHERS HAVE A PUMP FILTER BEHIND THE LOWEST PANEL ON THE FRONT. ON THE FRONT OF THE MACHINE AT THE VERY BOTTOM, REMOVE THE THREE SCREWS TO REMOVE THE BOTTOM PANEL AND YOU WILL SEE THE ROUND PUMP FILTER HOUSING. IF ON A PEDESTAL, PLACE A BUCKET IN THE DRAWER AS WATER WILL COME OUT WHEN YOU UNSCREW THE FILTER. IF ON THE FLOOR, TILT MACHINE BACK A WAYS TO GET THE WATER INTO THE BACK OF THE TUB, NOT TOO FAR OR IT WILL COME OUT OF THE REAR VENTS. REMOVE FILTER AND CLEAN OUT. THIS IS THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES.

Will not drain or spin

There is another posted problem similar to this one if you look at GE front-loading washers.  I can tell you right now, though, that we just cleaned the filter (had the same problem as you) and everything is working perfectly now.  The bottom panel (on the front) of your washer comes off by removing 3 screws.  Our filter was full of lint, change, barrettes, etc.  I would highly recommend looking for that other post (has more information) or trying to clean the filter.  Hope this helps!

Your outlet filter is blocked, check this out and clean it and refit. The filter requires periodic cleaning according to your use. For most machines the filter door is at the front bottom; just look for it in your users' manual.
