Only Nero can't see your Cd-Rom or other software as well. Can any disc be played in it?

If it cant detect the drive this could be down to
1. You have other burning software which is conflicting so if you do un install any other burning software - especially In CD as that is a waste of time.
2. You need to install your chipset drivers ( also known as motherboard drivers ) more specifically the controller drivers for IDE or SATA depending on what connection type your drive is. If you find out what motherboard you have in terms of make and model you should be able to find the specific and latest drivers from there website - if you need further help if you post back.
3. You need to delete the upper and lower filters in the registry and reboot your compiuter as per this microsoft knowledge base:
