I used proper chainsaw oil so I cant see how that would have killed it. Is there a safety mechanism that stops the saw from working? If so how long will it take before I can use it again?

  • blakepa6 Apr 18, 2009

No the Chain is not broken its all intact.

the chain brake would be an extra handle forward of the regular grip handle. It would be on a pivot, and control a band around the clutch to stop the saw rapidly in case of a kickback

Oops sorry, assumed it was a gas saw.

No, that is not normal for an electric saw.

Is there a chain brake on it?

Did you put the proper fuel & oil mix in the saw?

If you used gasoline only, I'm afraid you just killed your new saw.

It won't work it appears to be locked

Hi there,

There is a guard on top of the saw. It's on a hinge. It's purpose is to protect you in case the saw bucks up. It does this by locking the chain.

Pull the guard away from the chain and toward the handle. It will unlock.

Remember: even though it's electric, it still needs oil.

Best regards,
Mike
