Does the empty battery symbol flash in the top cover LCD when the lens is on? If so, then you may have to replace the bottom board. Pull the bottom cover and see if there are any empty screw holes in the bottom circuit board. As the bottom board contains the lens circuitry and also the flash circuitry, then a loose screw can short out parts of the board when it is also touching on of the flash 300 volt traces. Common problem on the 7D.

I have this same camera and had this problem once. Turns out the batteries I used were duds. Try changing out the batteries. I would suggest lithium or rechargeable batteries.

Lens Error fix for Digital Camera

One of the mostcommon digital camera error messages has to do with a lens problem. Some cameras will just beep and not show any error message and otherswill have an error message on the LCD screen. Some camera's will try tostart, the lens will go out and then return back and shut down.Sometimes nothing at all will happen, but the lens is the reason whythe camera will not start up.

Different camera'smay give you different error codes. Some of the error codes will beE-18 for older Cannon camera's, ACCESS error for Sony, Zoom Error forFuji, lens error restart, or just plain lens error. These are themost common camera error messages, but your digital camera may have a different one.

There are manydifferent things that can cause the lens to give an error message. One of the most common causes is keeping the camera in a case or bag.The dust, grit, felt, and lint from the bag gets into the cameralenses and causes it to jam. The static electric from the camerarubbing the side of the case causes the dirt to be attracted to thelens, which makes the problem even worse. Also if your camera is in acase and the button gets pushed to turn the camera on, and the lenscannot extend it can cause the lens pins to come out of the track, causing focus problems and lens errors. Bottom line is that you areoften better off not keeping your camera in a case! It is saferwithout a case then with one.

The next problemthat many people encounter is that they drop or knock the camera withthe lens out. When this happens, the lens pins can come out of thetrack, and/or the lens can be knocked sideways, which will jam thelens as it tries to extend and/or focus and zoom. If you do drop orbang your camera against something, there is about a 50/50 chancethat it can be fixed. Many times with care the lens can be realigned, but in some cases the jarring or the realigning, will break somethinginternally, so there will be no fix for it.

If your digital camera hasa problem, you will have a couple of choices. You can try to fix ityourself, or you can try to find a camera repair shop that will fix it for you.Because of the type of problems that cause lens errors, the digital camerarepair will seldom be covered under the manufacturer warranty. Alsobe careful to get a quote from a digital camera repair shop before youauthorize the repair. Many times the repair price quoted will be morethen the replacement cost of the digital camera. If you do a search on theinternet for a camera repair shop, make sure to include any shipping andhandling costs in the repair price.

If you choose totry and repair the camera yourself then look for my tip - Steps toRepair a Digital Camera Lens.

This gives you thehow and why of your digital camera error message, and/or why your digitalcamera will/may not start up.

The zoom lens gets stucked and cannot come out when I turn on cam

Lens probably does not extend or retract because of debris or a misaligned gear box. Thelens can in about 50% of the cases be repaired without having to replace it. Try toreturn to manufacturer first. If you're out of warranty, there arethird party place that fix them such as camera lens repairs. If you want to do it yourself, there are also free camera repair guide websites that show you how to replace the lens, the replacement part is usually available on ebay.

When i turn on, it says lens error, restart camera - i"ve turned the camera on and off several times and nothing happens, the error message continues to show. I've taken the battery out and put back in but...

Try one of these two fixes, if they dont work for you follow the link below for further troubleshooting.

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Fix #1: Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in (preferably rechargeable NiMH 2500mah or better) and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.
Fix #2: If the camera's batteries ran down completely while the its lens was still open, the camera may show a lens error or not start properly when new batteries are installed. Remove the memory card and keep it removed, then install the new batteries. When you turn the camera on with the card removed it may come back to life, as this triggers a reset in some cameras. Error E30 (for older Canon's) means that you don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the SD card and turn it on one last time

My l200 camara lens is stuck

huSh now :( I remember my former camera.. XD

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interferingwith the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped withthe lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens hadbeen blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with thelens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seemto work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is outof warranty, they're worth a try:

Slide back my power on/off cover on my DC SLIM 524 Digital Camera But thelens do not go back.

Most of the time this is caused by dirt, grit or sand in the lens mechanism. The best way to fix this is to use an air compressor. Put the nozzle to the space between the lens and the camera and blow air into the space, you may have to do it a few time until its clean. Let me know if you have any more problems, and don't forget to rate my answer a fixya.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P72

It could be that the battery isn't holding a charge anymore if you are using rechargeable batteries in you camera. Most of them have a short life to them. If you can get a hold of another one, see if that solves that problem.

Folks,

Try to assist the machine mechanism. Turn the lenses (force is no necessary) when turning on or off. This should unlock the mechanism.
Good luck!
