The router should change your set up all too much, but just incase... I want to cover how the set up SHOULD be from the wall to the computers.

From the wall, (a phone wire for DSL or cable wire for cable internet) should go to the modem.

From the modem, a single ethernet line should go to your router.

From the router, since you have 2 computers, will have a single line going to each computer (2 lines coming from the router, one to each computer).

Unless the router was only issuing a single IP address (I don't expect you to know this) then there is no reason why both computers are not working.

If your setup is as above and it is still not working, then unplug both the router and the modem for about 10 or so seconds and plug them back in (can pull the power from either the back of each unit or at the outlet... doesn't matter) Doing this gives the modem/router to restart fresh.

If this does not solve your problem, please comment and I'll try to assist you further.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Linksys router not recognize internet

Make sure your router's WAN port is set to dynamic IP. If the light on the front doesn't glow/blink for the WAN port, try a different cable. If a different cable doesn't work it's probably toast. :( This problem appears to be directly linked to the relationship between the WAN port and the modem. Given that the devices can connect to the router, but not internet, it has to be the WAN. Sometimes if the modem goes out it will send too much voltage through to the router and fry the WAN. Had that happen to my parents router. If the above doesn't "fix ya" then try a different router.

Worst case, you might have to put a wireless card in your PC and bridge the modem (wired connection) to the wireless card and broadcast for your wireless devices. At least until you get a new router.

I tried to set up my wrtg54 linksys with my new motorola modem from at&t. The linksys says it cannot find an internet connection. Of course, when ethernet is taken out of comp to plug into router, the...

Good day,
The AT&T modem(Motorola), is actually a modem and a single port router.
To work with the Linksys it must be set up in bridge mode. Then let the router make the decisions.
AT&T tech support will usually not help you if the router is not there product.
On Google, there are many sites that will help with this issue.
Unless you've already done it, you should contact AT&T by phone and request tech support on setting up your modem. They will talk you thru the whole setup, including testing but without the router.
Then proceed with the steps thru Google.
I do not know the settings for your specific router, but the forums will usually help.
I assume you're on DSL. Make sure they know that. Cable settings are different.

How can I setup my Linksys 54g v2.2, with my ZyXel 660r modem from embarq so that I can use my laptop with the routers wifi?

First of all you need to set you modem router to bridge mode. go to this link will explaine in more detail
http://kb.earthlink.net/case.asp?articale=69205

remember to change the linksys router ip to 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 somthing different from the modem .
Hughes modems are all set to 192.168.0.1 so simply setting the linksys router to default 192.168.1.1
you need to change the linksys router IP to somthing different 192.168.0.1

Need to redo wireless setup betw linksys & westell

You will need to assign a different ip address to the Westell modem - I am assuming that both the router & modem are using the same ip address 192.168.1.1? If that is the case, then assign 192.168.1.2 to the modem.

Cannot connect to internet Model WRT54GS

Hi

I would like to know who is your internet service provider and would like to check if the router is configured with your ISP modem.
To configure for different ISPs here is the link
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US/Layout&cid=1166859761879&pagename=Linksys/Common/VisitorWrapper&lid=6187977881B11
The links are there for setting up with DSL as well as cable modem. Do let me know if its working or not.
Thank you

Conection problem

If you are using the highest level of encryption available, your laptop may not support it.

back up the configuration file then reset it and set it up to be used without any encryption then see if that works.

If it does then the encryption is your problem, this is only the case when using WPA 1 or higher.

It didn't work for me.
Should the username be the email address from At&t that controls the DSL line, or should it be the username to get into the Netopia modem?
