What antividurs product are you trying to install? Are you trying to do the install from a CD, from a full download, or from a Web-based installer? What operating system is she using? Is she using the built-in Windows Firewall or another firewall product such as TrendMicro, Norton, AVG, Kapersky, etc?

Not sure if its a firewall, I would suggest to try the avast home antivirus from www.avast.com its free, I've been using it myself for years.

Give it a try and see if it installs.

How do I get on facebook on a computer that blocked facebook

Why is the computer blocking FaceBook? Is it software some company or parent placed on the computer to prevent unauthorized use or visiting unapproved sites? If so, you will have to talk to whomever installed the software because it is likely you don't own that computer. It could also be the source of your internet connection that has firewall software blocking access to external sites. Or it could be your antivirus/firewall software on the computer doing the blocking. You need to be more specific on how you are accessing the internet (wired or wireless), what anti-virus or malware blocking software is installed on your computer, and what exactly you are trying to do before anyone can be of more help.

Not getting connected yahoo messanger

You might have installed an antivirus firewall which might be blocking the network for yahoo messenger please check the settings for the antivirus and even check whether you haven't applied any proxy settings in the internet options

Wifi and laptop not connecting with 340printer

Have you checked your firewall and your antivirus? Usually this type of issues are caused because your antivirus or your firewall is blocking the connection to your printer and that causes no connectivity between the laptop and the printer.
Try this, disable your antivirus and firewall and try to map the printer on your computer, if that works it means that your firewall and antivirus needs to be configured to work with the printer.
If that doesn't work, check if your PC has installed the drivers for the printer or download them from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/support.
Hope that helps.

I just like to be able to check my facebook account. computer has antivirus or some then comes up as block content filter

Netgear's block brings up a red screen IIRC and you know that it has been blocked. If you own the router, log into it and fix it, if it's someone else's router, tough luck.

It's unlikely that an antivirus program would block facebook.

Im trying to reinstall my yahoo messenger but something is blocking it from downloading files needed for installation. ive gone so far as to completely disable my firewall but nothing has worked. can...

Sometimes proxy setting or a firewall or even the antivirus can stop Yahoo Messenger from downloading. If you've turned off the firewall, you may want to have a look into your proxy settings or antivirus.

Alternatively, you can download the application from a different website like Softpedia. Yahoo will only give you an installer which will download the application and cause one of the above problems. Here's a link to Yahoo Messenger 10.

Does a firewall protect me from viruses

No - all it does is to block traffic either from your computer (lets say a keylogger wants to send it's data to someone) or to your computer (someone tries to access your data).

If you run some infected program inside your compouter, it might not even touch the firewall.

What you need is Antivirus software. There are some good ones out there for free - if you use Windows, Microsoft Security Essentials got (amazingly) good ratings and it is free.

How do you reinstall something

  • Hi, if your trying to "Re-install the Norton Security Software, and you had a problem or error while "Installing"; do the following: check the "Firewall," check to see if the Firewall is blocking the "Program" from being downloaded. Next check to see if there is already a "Security" software setup on the computer that is "conflicting with the download / reinstalling. You may need to have someone that have experience in checking theses areas if you have trouble finding them. I'm going to give you direct instruction to go to these areas you need to check. First, click on the "Start Button" when the window open, look in the (right side pane area) find the "Icon, Control Panel, click on it to open. There will be alot of listings, choose the "Security; Allow a program through Windows Firewall." There will be (3) buttons in the "Top" area of the next window, select the "Exception" button, click on the "Add program..." the window will change again, scroll through the "Programs until you find "Norton Security" and "highlight' just click on it, and "Click on the OK button. Restart the computer open the "software" you want to "Install / Reinstall and select to Install; follow all the instructions. Now if there is another security software interfering with the install, you have to go back to the "control Panel again, select to open, in the next window click on the (Programs) "Uninstall a program," find the software (highlight to uninstall), once you are finished, restart the computer; this will fix everything properly, if all goes well. "I hope for the best! Rating the solution is appreciated if you found it helpful, thank you."

Fax can't find com port

there r leading two reasons behind port jam/block:
1) any type of firewall..
2) trojan/virus..

plz do the following:
disable/uninstall any firewall installed..
open start menu->run->type services.msc->disable the service 'Windows Firewall'..
see if ur antivirus (esp if u hv antivirus with internet security/firewall) is limiting so..

if u don't hv antivirus installed..hv a licensed and UPDATED antivirus installed (i preferavg/kaspersky, , without updation a full version antivirus is useless)..
download, install n run microsoft kb890830..http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en..
download n run Startup Control Panel..http://download.cnet.com/Startup-Control-Panel/3000-2094_4-10039330.html..'removealltheunnecessary startup items from here..(if u can't find what to remove, post me/us in ur comment with all the items listed in each n every tabsherein)..
remove all unnecessary software from add/remove programs..
download, install n run 'Advanced System Care Pro'..http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Pro/3000-2086_4-10399324.html..

if itz still denying..mind for a fresh os installation..
