Sony Vaio with Vista has stopped reading Data CDs

Hello,
My Sony Vaio has stopped seeing Data CDs - even after burning them correctly. It just sees them as a blank disc.
All the Data CDs work fine on other machines and the Vaio can view any other type of CD/DVD without a problem.
I've also tried all the obvious things such as cleaning etc.
Thanks in advance. i have acer aspire 4315 with the same problem.The dvd ram is matshita uj870qj.It can not read any kind of cd, but it can read dvd.It was fine when i've bought it, but not for now. I've already try to uninstalls the driver, but the problem still remain the same. Does anyone have some solution for my problems?.thx

- Sony Vaio has this matshita dvd ram and previously it used to read all the data cds and dvd's but recently it has stopped reading data cd's and whenever i insert a data cd, it shows the cd as blank. Can someone help me please- anikethpopupSolution #1

You need to remove the drive , reboot , shut down the computer. After it is completely shut down re install it then restart the computer. You might need to enter bios and make sure it shows up with proper settings there. If your unsure set the defaults then reboot. Correct bios if needed.
